Definitely worth the trip...much better than I expected! The outdoor buildings were closed (for the winter I'm guessing), so we only visited the main center and outside displays. It was cold and windy (and I'm from Arkansas) so I didn't spend a ton of time outdoors...
The inside is sort of layed-out in a chronological order beginning near the Civil War time period and "ending" near the Desert Shield/Storm era. There's a fairly large section dedicated to the National Guard. There's LOTS of written historical information available, plus uniformed mannequins for a good visual representation of the appropriate times.
There are weapons o' plenty from virtually every era. There's uniforms with an impressive collection of helmets as well.
Outside, there's a nice row of tanks as well as howitzers, transport vehicles, a few helicopters and other vehicles. You can climb on several of them for a hands-on experience and photos!

My wife brought me here for a surprise Father's day visit and I was so impressed with their exhibits, staff and overall collection of vehicles, aircraft, arms etc. As a former Marine and enthusiast of history, this place could not have been a better choice to visit. They did a great job with their small arms displays as well as the countless armored vehicles and tanks. We were allowed to sit in the Huey and climb on and around many of the other vehicles as well. My family had a blast and I highly recommend this museum to anyone who like military history....
Read moreI was pleasantly surprised how much my kids go into this place. The inside museum had artifacts and information about every conflict the US has been in. And outside, there are numerous tanks, trucks, planes, nd helicopters to look into. Couple tanks you can even crawl on. They have a maximum family cost of $12 which I really appreciate. I learned a lot and think my kids took a lot away too. Note, it can be a little intimidating getting in. You have to go through the guard gate and they asked for everyone's licenses.
