Phelps Mill is a historic flour mill that's been cleaned up and turned into a museum of sorts, with signs posted around the building explaining the milling process, and a video about the mill's history. The rustic old mill is open on summer and autumn weekends and folks can just walk in and wander around.
The land adjacent and downstream from it is a beautiful riverside park and, the second weekend of July, it's the site of the annual Phelps Mill Festival, a gathering where community organizations raise funds by selling food, musicians and others entertain attendees, and talented artisans in many media--some quite unique and unexpected--offer their creations for sale.
