Visiting the Green River Overlook in Canyonlands National Park this past July was an awe-inspiring experience that left a lasting impression on me. Perched high on the mesa in the Island in the Sky district, the overlook offers a sweeping view of the Green River snaking through the deep canyons below, framed by layers of rugged red rock cliffs and mesas stretching out into the distance.

The Green River Viewpoint is found shortly after the turnoff towards the Upheaval Dome. There is a small parking section for a handful of cars and a short walk to the overlook where you can see quite far into the distance.

Here you will see the Green River, which has cut a path through the Soda Springs Basin, creating some extraordinary views. You can also see the Orange Cliffs in the far distance. These contribute to some very nice pictures you can take here.
