In 1998 my wife and I were in Maui for the 1 yr anniversary of our marriage. We wanted to do things that we couldn’t do on our honeymoon. One of them was to revisit Molokai and tour Purdy’s Mac farm. We called ahead of our flight and spoke to a young lady who confirmed that they were open for tours. When we arrived the parking lot was empty and a man in a Hawaiian skirt approached us and told us they were closed on account that his daughter from Oahu just had a baby and they were celebrating a luau. He then asked where did we come from? When we told him he said “you flew from Maui just to visit my farm?”, and insisted to give us a private tour. After the amazing personally tour, he then invited us to his luau and no was not an option. To this day I still tell the story about the real aloha experience we had that you can’t get from a tour bus. Talking story to down to earth people like the Purdy family and the Parez’s. Finding connections with everyone we spoke to even though we’re thousands of miles apart in NY with a totally different perspective. Like the personal connection one had with the founder of Pindar winery even though he had never left Hawaii. Purdy’s Macadamia Nut Farm is a special place ran by a great family. Thank you Tuddie for...
Read moreI wish we got pictures, but this place is awesome! They do keep weird hours, so I'd drive by and check out the sign to the left of the driveway for their current hours. I think while we were there at the end of December 2021, it was Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 10 am to 12 noon.
We showed up and were greeted by one of the family members who gave us a history of not only macadamia nuts but also her family's orchard that is owned by her brother. She answered our questions with expertise and no question was off bounds.
Then she takes you over to a table where you can crack and eat dried and non-dried macadamia nuts to see the difference. After you finish with that, you'll be taken over to try different products they sell and be given a chance to check out their gift shop.
Overall, a great experience that I would love to do again...
Read moreWonderful experience! We enjoyed the tour and learning the history of the farm. You will get to crack your own nuts open to try them, and then sample the roasted nuts and macadamia honey. All was very delish and they were very generous with the samples! The gift shop had a great selection of items, make sure to bring cash with you as they may not be running the credit card machine on visit (our tour guide said usually run credit cards on Saturday only). Authentic Molokai experience with local family, highly...
