Tangerine falls is located near Santa Barbara. There is no parking fee and there are enough open spots if you get there in the morning. There is no need to worry, as the trail is easy to follow, though just to be sure I got directions from the hikers around me. It’s a little bit over 4 miles round trip but it is steep, providing a good workout for the legs. I didn’t want to hike up to the falls, as there wasn't enough water flowing this year (Feb 23,2020). That said, I had a lot of fun with this hike.It offers an incredible view, with a lot of big boulders for me to climb. It was very adventurous and a bit scary for me at the same time. The green and fall colors mixed together felt amazing and relaxing to my eyes. The birds singing, wildflowers, and the sound of stream told me spring is here. I will come back here again after some rainfall.

Great hike, and beautiful area. Probably the most beautiful water fall in Santa Barbara. I did not appreciate the bicyclists riding down the Cold Springs West Trail. There was not enough room for them to pass by while hiking. I felt like I was having to leap out of the way of them (some of their bells were pretty quiet.) To get to the base of the waterfall, there is a bit of a rock scramble on the way through the creek bed. Definitely worth the journey as there wasn’t any mud to worry about

trail has changed significantly since the mud slide. hard to navigate unless previous knowledge of trail beforehand. a few forks so easy to get confused and go on the wrong trail. washed out but still beautiful and 2nd half has no worn trail (washed away), you need to go up the stream with rock climbing and some minor bouldering. super fun if you are up for a challenge with a beautiful reward!

One of the best hikes in SB. Be prepared before you go. This trail will require hiking and bouldering towards the top. I took my family of 8 and most did great. There are some technical areas that are a bit suspect. This is where the 9 yr old and the 72 yr old really struggled. Had some scrapes and bruises. But most of us were just dusty, sweaty and dirty at the end.

Note, when approaching the trail head, start with bridge and water falls on your left and go past the signs for the cold springs trailhead.

Beautiful area with unique floral and fauna to Cali and the local area. Impressive views when fog breaks. I would recommend going in the AM before the fog breaks to take advantage of the cooler weather.

Do not hike this trail when inclement weather,...

My girlfriend and I visited from the east coast. Ridge trail was scary as heck. We took the east cold spring trail and had a nicely challenging time. Great views. We were not prepared with enough water, sunblock, hiking boots, or hiking poles. If you are an avid hiker, this should be a nice challenge. If you are avg joe, take the east trail. We attacked the east trail with caution and ease. The ridge trail required controlled sliding decent when we visited. We turned around and went back the way we were familiar with after a mild panic attack. I'm a beginner- intermediate hiker (cross country running and light hiking), this required more expertise than I could accommodate. Take your photo at the top, don't be brave,...
