Pfeiffer Falls in Big Sur, California, is a stunning natural attraction that offers visitors a beautiful hike through the redwoods and a breathtaking view of a cascading waterfall. The trailhead is located near the Big Sur Lodge and winds through towering redwood trees and ferns, creating a magical and peaceful atmosphere that's perfect for a nature walk.

The hike to the falls is relatively easy and well-marked, making it accessible to visitors of all ages and abilities. The trail is approximately 1.5 miles round trip, and along the way, there are several places to rest, enjoy a picnic, and take in the beautiful surroundings. The waterfall itself is a spectacular sight, with water cascading over the rocks and creating a soothing, meditative soundtrack. The view of the falls is particularly impressive after a rainstorm when the water is flowing more abundantly.

One of the best things about Pfeiffer Falls is that it's not too crowded, so visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of the falls without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Additionally, the trail is dog-friendly, so visitors can bring their furry friends along for the adventure.

Pfeiffer Falls is a must-see destination for anyone visiting Big Sur. The hike is easy, and the falls are a stunning display of nature's power and beauty. If you're looking for a peaceful and serene getaway, be sure to add Pfeiffer Falls to your itinerary – it's well...

Pfeiffer Falls Trail – Big Sur Hidden Gem

The Pfeiffer Falls Trail kicks off right at the Big Sur Lodge, making it super convenient if you’re already staying nearby. It’s a charming little hike that’s great for a casual adventure, but still gives you a bit of a workout with some moderate elevation gain.

What really makes this trail shine is the lush greenery all around—towering redwoods, wildflowers in bloom, and the peaceful sounds of birds chirping overhead. You’ll also pass by serene water streams, which add a calming vibe to the whole experience. • Entrance fee: $10 (day use) • Amenities: There’s a water filling station and clean restrooms right at the trailhead, which is a big plus. • Bonus: The little café at the lodge is perfect for grabbing a coffee, cold drink, or a quick snack either before or after your hike.

Overall, it’s a solid short-to-medium hike with beautiful scenery and just enough challenge to feel rewarding—ideal for a relaxed morning or afternoon...

Parking lots available for a fee or street parking is free as long as you stay within allowed areas. If you pay at 1 state park, it will cover the fee at another as long as it's the same day.

Restrooms are available near parking areas, but not along the trail.

The trail itself is short but slightly inclined. Several areas have stairs and something to be mindful of. If it's steep going up, it will be steep going down.

Once you get to the falls, there are 2 long benches. Sit, relax, and enjoy the sounds. Hopefully, it's all water you hear and not loud guests lol I laid on one of the benches and closed my eyes. I could have fallen asleep there. So peaceful!

It's a beautiful area. I hope that once the other trail is opened after bridge damage repair, it will be worth...
