Rural Route 1 Popcorn Retail Store — Attraction in Montfort

I'm convinced Rural Route 1 Popcorn is the best in the Midwest—maybe even in the entire country! Every fall, I treat myself to their cheese popcorn by the box, and year after year, it never disappoints. The kernels are huge, fluffy, and perfectly coated in rich, cheesy goodness. It’s always incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned, and dangerously addictive—it disappears way too fast!

The packaging is also top-notch—each order is carefully bagged, boxed, and then double-boxed, so it always arrives in perfect condition. Minimal crushed crumbs unlike what you get from store-bought bags—just full-kernel, delicious popcorn.

This year, for a pool closing party, I decided to branch out from my usual Cheddar and ordered a 4-gallon box with a mix of flavors. It was difficult to choose, since they offer so many flavors, but I went with Cheddar Cheese, Peanut Butter Cup, and Cheesy Ranch. Every single flavor was a hit! My guests couldn’t stop talking about how good it was, and Cheesy Ranch might just be my new favorite.

I am a popcorn fanatic and have tried countless brands, this by far is the best! I make my own popcorn on the stove and the white popcorn I bought is amazing!! They pop all the way through and are so delicious. It was a blind buy, we were driving down the road when we saw their shop. We decided to buy the 25 lbs and I wish we bought more!! I think the plain cheese popcorn is truly a gift from God- it’s angelic! I travel 3 hours multiple times a year, out of my way just to buy the popcorn cause it’s that fabulous. However if you are a MALE, there are rules you must follow in the store. The manager lady is a “Karen” with absolutely 0 sense of humor and not the least bit friendly. I give her a break cause this place is always busy with people asking dumb questions. 1)If you want flavored stuff, it’s in the bags on the shelf. 2)You want plain stuff, they’ll put it in a bucket. The sizes are all out so you can see them. 3)Do yourself a favor and don’t ask questions, the Karen is snappy but the popcorn is worth it- any of the younger ladies are great to assist you- lots of Foo-Foo craft stuff, so get your popcorn and get out and DON’T ASK QUESTIONS!
