Monticello City Parks & Rec — Attraction in Monticello

Love this park. It has numerous different types of playground equipment there that is great for all ages! Very well shaded by the trees. It has bathrooms and also a couple of water fountains to help visitors stay hydrated. There are several pavilions with picnic tables and park grills along with a small event building as well. They have plenty of parking and a ball field. If you go down the stairs you find a beautiful trail with historical information of certain areas along the short trail that follows a shallow creek back to the big lake and public access site. Nice park. Could use a little bit of maintenance. Some of the equipment needs oiled and repainted. Other than that it just needs cleaned up since people cant clean up after themselves. They need cameras so they can start giving out fines to people who litter around there. It is one of the bigger parks around and has a nice little nature walk at the bottom of the hill. Appalled at the condition of this park. Years ago it was such a great resource for Monticello. Now it's run down, with little maintenance. The bathrooms are horrendous. I'd expect cleaner bathrooms given it's a city facility. Absolutely disgusting. No soap available in the bathrooms, even after requesting soap days before renting a pavilion.
