Black Canyon Golf Course — Attraction in Montrose

I have only played the back nine, so this review only reflects those holes.

The club house is fine, no complaints there.

I personally had no issues with the layout of the course. I thought that for the given space the layout was fine. I enjoyed each hole.

The employees were friendly and nice.

My biggest complaint, however, was the watering. At 9:30 am they were watering the course. On one hole we had to tee off in the sprinklers. Another hole the green was still sopping wet. There was a bunker that had a puddles and 6 feet long and 2" deep. There were a few puddles in the fairway. The cart paths had many puddles and mud. It hasn't rained recently, this was all from the sprinklers.

I'd give this course a solid 4 star rating, but the watering is what made me lower the rating.

Having said that, I still will likely come back and...

My husband and I practiced on the putting green and ate dinner at the small bar/restaurant. The food was really good, and was very well priced. $5 for a good sized burger and fries. Most importantly, the young man running the restaurant was FABULOUS. It is difficult to find good customer service these days, and he went above and beyond to make our experience a good one. The fairways and greens are in immaculate condition. We really enjoyed the different layout between the front and back. A very fun course to play. Finished our day with lunch in the Rusty Putter - very good food. Probably one of our most enjoyable rounds of golf. We will definitely play Black...
