The Schwebachs want community support but recently abandoned letting customers use the foodstamps program. We are all trying to make a living but more than half of the east mountains are poor and disabled, so this is a huge negative blow. I refuse to support a greed driven farm. What a sad sudden surprise. edited in response to the response by the business This business is all about stereotyping and biased judgement. To write in a public response that those on EBT are merely "parasites" who are "supported by hardworking individuals and businesses" is the lowest I have seen yet here, that statement is entirely false, and only proves my overall point. More than half of ebt recipients ARE hardworking people, did you forget the reality of today's economy? The attempt to claim that money is lost by allowing those with foodstamps to buy from the business is equally low. There are multiple documented sources and data collection such as the Farmers Market Coalition, that shows there are no fees to add ebt processing, reimbursement is given at the end of the day for ebt tokens if the vendor sells appropriate items and keeps valid record, there is no fee to use ebt card on evv machines, equipment is given free to the vendor from the state, there are grants that become available to farmers who do this, especially those who already take credit/debit card payments and ARE actually charged a fee to do allow credit/debit card payments. So this business is claiming these documented sources are lying which includes the State of NM own resources on this topic. Then the business boasts of giving "donated vegetables" to the local thrift store as a justification for it all. I now see from the response: greed, prejudice upon a class of people, falsified statements, discrimination, and charity glorification in attempt to make a name for themselves. None of it helped, justified anything, and ultimately made things worse...
Read moreSchwebach Farm Store is by far the best place to get produce in NM. If you want a nostalgic, down-home, human experience of browsing farm fresh produce, talking to people, and getting what is fresh and locally available, this is the place. If you want to support people who are working hard to provide real food to the local community, this is the place. If you want to shop at a store where real people can answer your real questions and share a friendly conversation, this is the place.
I love how they stock food from other farms and local companies (meat and body care products, etc), so you can check multiple items off your shopping list at the Schwebach Farm Store.
Shopping at Schwebach's is always a...
Read morePay no attention to the person with the dirt on his or her potatoes. I was raised on a farm in Wisconsin. Your family farm brings tears to my eyes everytime we visit from Rio Rancho. We've been coming for corn for probably since 2003 if, I'm not mistaken. We love, love , love you. If our grandchildren find out we've gone to the farm without them to shop in your store....we pay dearly. We will see you bright and early this Saturday with great Joy. God Bless all who work so hard on your farm. We feel the love in all you grow....
