Updated review - changed from 1 star to 2.
Summary - Place is fun but small. Avoid season passes and gift cards.
Kids course is fun for ages 3 - 6. The kids course is just barely off the ground (adults can walk along side the whole way and kid will always be in easy reach). If you have a very adventurous child they may only want to go once. Adult course is much higher!
Based on my negative experience and limitations of gift cards and passes, I recommend paying for regular tickets - I think going more than once or twice per year would reduce the excitement and fun.
During the summer season (when school is out for Wake County) they are open weekends plus several days during the week. During school they are mostly open Saturday/Sunday with Fridays open closer to when school gets out/starts.
I purchased both gift passes and a season pass and had problems with them. Customer service was not helpful and until I wrote my 1 star review on Google I was not able to get someone to help me. My gift cards could only be used Fridays and Sundays even though the park was open more than that. Original exclusions says "Saturdays and special events" which seems to include all holidays, the entire month of October plus other events at the park (seems to highly overlap with anytime regular working persons can attend). After posting a negative review someone reached out and fixed my passes so they work on days other than Saturdays and special event days as they should have originally.
Original review:
Place is small. While it is fun, my opinion is that it is over priced for the amount of things you can do here.
Beware of buying passes or gift cards! No information is provided about restrictions when purchasing passes, but then when you attempt to use them you will find that most days are blocked out to gift pass holders and season pass holders. Customer service is happy to point to current restrictions listed on the website which is not part of the purchase pipeline nor information provided after purchase of passes and gift cards.
Unfortunately I purchased both passes and gift cards and am now finding that I can...
Read moreWe drove up from Charlotte to spend a weekend with a good friend for their birthday. They wanted to do this as one of the activities. Before driving up, I bought my ticket and based my judgment of it solely on their homepage video and photos and didn't really think much of it, seemed kind of dull.
However, once we showed up it was a whole different story. Going in, I thought the price was a little steep, but man, it was well worth the money paid. They provide everything you need and give you a really good instructor at the start to go over all the steps. Trying out all the different difficulty leveled courses was amazing. Very challenging ones after you get through the easy ones (which, even the easy ones can be challenging too.) We all had a great time and got to know each other a lot better during it. Lots of time to talk and laugh while one person crosses an obstacle.
The distance traveled and money paid are well worth it. We have a similar attraction here in Charlotte, and I would still recommend this one. All the staff were super friendly and smart people. They never made you feel less than them in skill or like they had to boss you around, they basically made everyone feel like their buddy who's about to embark on some cool stuff. They joked around with us and just talked casually on the deck while waiting to start one of the courses. I don't remember any of their names, but I'd rather not even mention their names because they were ALL great people.
100% do this. If you're thinking about it and reading reviews to judge the place and if it's worth it, just stop now and book it. You will not regret this. If you think you're too weak, don't, we had people of different athletic builds and a mom who just gave birth 2 months before. I hope to do this again during the summer, as we went during a chilly day (which didn't ruin the...
Read moreWe had a good experience at TreeRunner, the staff was kind and very informative. However, I feel very misled by the reviews so I wanted to explain my experience. I had been to ropes courses and zip lines before and always had people helping me with attaching to the zip lines, that was not the case here. You have to attach yourself which they explain how to do. As a grown person this was easy enough but for my 7 year old this was very challenging. They have wooden steps to aid but even then he was too short to actually put the trolley on and off the line. Not only this but you have to add 2 clips behind the trolley and there was always tape around the lines so without leaning pretty far forward it was hard to get on them. This was challenging for him. I tried helping him before but then he couldnt unhook from the line so I had to “illegally” go down the zip line while he was still hooked to the line to help him (if that makes sense) He didn’t like this as a strict rule follower. In the end he got very stressed by this and even though he is not afraid of heights at all decided he didn’t want to do it anymore. We had to have them come get him down due to this which was obviously not the best scenario. Though the staff handled it very professionally, were extremely calm, talked him through it, and gave him a sticker at the end which was so kind. I have friends that told me they had the exact same experience with their kids which is why they haven’t gone back and said it was pretty miserable. So I wanted to make sure people with kids understood this before wasting $90 going with your kids. I will be back for sure with my husband but likely will not be back with my kids until they are teenagers. Hope this helps someone. We had a great experience at the other Raleigh based zip line company...
