Norwood Gardens — Local services in Wake Forest

We recently had Norwood Garden develop a landscape design for a small area around the pool. They call first to fit you with a designer, to see the best fit for you. LoAnne came to our home and gave us recommendations and was very helpful in helping us choose plants that would work well with the area we needed landscaped. We were short on time, we had a party in 2 weeks and our previous landscape person fell through, so we had to start looking immediately. LoAnne came out within 2 days and had our design the next day. They squeezed us in. The detail was unbelievable. The owners who just took over Norwood in November, were so accommodating and so knowledgeable! The crew that came and did the work were timely and professional and the plantings look great! The designer comes out on the day of installation and places the plants and either adds or removes things if we were ok with it. They come with extra plants or double some of the plants so we can pick what we like better. We actually added a few things. Our designer, was actually on vacation on the day of delivery, so the owner Anne came out and placed everything where it should be, we decided to add a few things on site, they went to lunch and came back with more things. Now for the person who schedules everything, he does more then schedules, Les also an owner. He came out the day before, scoped the property, making sure his guys knew what to do. He gave me his cell phone and I bombarded him with questions about the plantings, I do not have a green thumb at all. He answered every text. Our irrigation person put in a drip line, and I noticed some of our plants were not getting enough water, Our river rock is not installed yet, so I called Les and asked him to swing by and check the irrigation, which is not his, and he came out and directed us on what to tell our irrigation person on some of the plants. If I could give them 10 stars I would. I forgot to leave out , that after I received our plan from LoAnne, we went to Norwood and I wish I could remember his name, but a sweet gentleman walked us through and showed us every plant on the design. I am so happy that I went with Norwood Road Garden Center for my hardscaping project. I couldn’t ask for a more beautiful result and nicer people to work with. I wanted to get a backyard patio put in. I had a lot of useless space and couldn’t grow grass because of two dogs. There was always mud puddles right by the back porch after it rained. I had 5 different companies come out for estimates and ideas. I approached Norwood first and liked Michael (the co-owner) so much that I asked him to come back as I had more questions when I had more concerns. Michael not only worked with me on designing the large back patio, but he also advised on so much more. Nico and Christian did an amazing and meticulous job laying out the patio. The entire crew was extremely polite, professional, and respectful. I never had to ask anyone to do anything twice for me.

Norwood was the only company that included drainage in the job for the best price (many didn’t even want to do any drainage) but, they also were the only company that didn’t scoff at any of the tree roots from neighbors’ trees that were underneath where the new patio would go. We added onto the job (a large front-side retaining wall and zoysia sod for the back) and there were never any problems at all.

Michael and his crew are talented, dedicated, professional, courteous, hardworking, and a pleasure to be around. They left my yard in great shape every night and I never had to worry about gates being left open when I let the dogs out when the crew was done for the day. Michael kept me informed the entire time about deliveries and what was expected for each day.

I don’t even recognize my backyard, it’s so beautiful. Their price was best and the quality of work was above par. I can’t say enough nice things about Norwood. I did a lot of work researching and vetting out the hardscapers/landscapers, so take my advice and save your time and money and go with Norwood Road Garden Center for your next project. Unfortunately I had to give at least 1 star in order to post. READ THE REVIEW! I should have read through all of the reviews myself. This place has terrible customer service. The staff working and answering the phone are not educated on material and/or pricing. I called looking specifically for stepper stones and flagstone. The guy that answered the phone stated they had both and were $250 per palette. My husband and I drove further than anticipated with an understanding that we’re would be able to get what we needed for our project. Once we arrived, we found out that they did NOT have stepper stones available. The owner (I presume) tried to act as if I had asked for the wrong thing - perhaps because I’m a female? Since we had driven there, trailer and all, we proceeded to get the flagstone. As the stone was loaded onto the trailer, I went in to pay where I was confronted with another “misinterpretation” as this man states that the stone was NOT $250 per palette but $285. Even when the guy who answered the phone stated he told me $250 on the phone that price was NOT honored, but I was given the option that “I don’t have to buy it”. In retrospect I shouldn’t have given my money to this business, but the stone was loaded and I was just ready to leave this place. They will NEVER get future business from me and I’d highly suggest that if you want to be taken care of as a customer and not degraded, go somewhere else!
