My husband, young daughter, and I were very excited to visit The International Wolf Center because we all love wolfs and think they are such a beautiful animal. The price was higher than I expected it to be, but I paid the $40 for us three to visit the center. I read reviews before we came and I saw a lot of mixed reviews, but we still wanted to see the center for ourselves. I should of listened to the reviews and saved the $40 bucks. We spent less than 45 minutes here. We saw 3 wolfs, which were beautiful, but we can go to a zoo in our home area and see the same thing for cheaper. The highlight of the visit and the ONLY reason why I would tell people to come here and that is to see the wolf pups, BUT you ONLY get 15 minutes to see the pups. We were in a VERY large group, so pretty much once you were up to the fence and was able to actually see them, you had to take a picture and move out of the way for the next person to see. They did have an area with activities for kids (next to auditorium & theater) and my daughter was able to color pictures of wolfs. The other area (straight across from entrance) was very boring and we made it through that area within 10 minutes. At the very end of our visit, we were looking at the "gift shop", when we started hearing a lady raising her voice. It was the front desk woman, raising her voice because a child was talking over her because he was so excited. Once my family saw that, we left at that moment. I am not going to support a center that their staff workers are rude to kids because the child is excited to see the animals. A few other families left as well at that time because they also witnessed it. I would not recommend this wolf center. Save your money and go to the North America Bear Center on the other side of town, where the staff members are way more friendly and you can actually see the bears up close and longer...
Read moreMy sons and I visited here on the first Saturday of winter fest in February. There weren't a lot of people so parking was fine.
Being able to see the wolves up close is amazing. There was a decent amount of time where the wolves just slept so if you want to see them interact then plan on staying for awhile. The exhibit was very informative for my son and I even though I've been intersted in wolves for many years. Found quite a few interesting nuggets.
Come to find out there was a Voyagers Wolf Project presentation that evening by Tom Gable. And Saturday night is when the wolves are fed. We paid the extra $8 per person to experience this very interesting opportunity later that evening. It was VERY well worth the extra time and expense. Tom is a very gifted presenter with a wealth of knowledge about the wolves in and around Voyagers State Park. Who knew wolves are ambush predators? Tom and his team found this in Voyagers and I believe they will start shaking up our knowledge of wolf behavior for some...
Read moreThe International Wolf Center is pretty awesome, and undoubtedly brings a lot of visitors to Ely. We made it a priority for our trip (Along with the North American Bear Center) and had an overall great time at both places. The Wolf Center has a large viewing room for the wolves (there are currently 4 'ambassador wolves' at the center) and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. There are frequent presentations on not only the wolves they have at the center, but also the ecology and behaviors of wolves across the globe. We got lucky with all four wolves hanging out around the windows and interacting with the staff. The wolves have a lot of fun interactions with one another and with the staff - our favorite wolf was Blackstone! The displays and presentations are very informative and the center has a nice layout - definitely a cool building and the passion for wildlife is apparent throughout. If you like wolves or just nature in general, the International Wolf Center is...
