We had so much fun here. We arrived just as they were feeding the reptiles and our girls enjoyed watching the turtles eat. We really enjoyed the relaxing walk on the walking paths and watching the rain from the covered dock. But my favorite was sitting on the top of the dock and enjoying the view. My 2 and 7yo loved the discovery drawers inside. They have feathers, insects, and bones of different creatures from the area. They even have pelts that you can touch of animals from the area. Plus the staff was incredibly friendly and gave us suggestions of other places to visit with our girls. Overall this is a great budget friendly place to go with small kids. They have lots of outdoor space for kids to explore and plenty of benches for tired parents to relax on. Would...

Nice place to stop by and see if you are in the area. We wanted to rent a paddleboat but Cole was MIA at the dock/boardwalk. When we mentioned this to the very nice woman at the main desk (after walking all the way back to the visitor center) he magically showed up. He asked us in front of her if we wanted to rent a boat and my husband said not now (he was hot and tired). We were walking to one more boardwalk and going home. Cole made a rude comment to him. It was unnecessary. Apparently he missed the class on customer relations. Even the little girl playing in the building was more helpful than him. Its handicapped assessible and free in July. Everything else was terrific. Cole needs to...

A wonderful, inexpensive outing. Between a fabulous day on the water kayaking, then wandering around the property, reading what they are doing, trying to find and identify birds and working on the children’s activities, one could easily spend half a day.

Leslie is at the front desk and is phenomenal! I spoke with her over the phone before coming down, just to know what I was getting myself into. She was very helpful over the phone and more so in person. What a fabulous personality. Such a great woman!!

You can also lessen your cost on kayak rentals by going to Groupon.

Thanks...

I’ll echo the other reviews that this place is a pastoral gem; an oasis of calm, quiet and natural beauty in coastal Mississippi. The other tremendous feature is high quality kayaks and paddles available for rent for only $15 (single) and $25 for a double! Explore the Escatawpa River and Beardslee Lake by paddle and you’ll see more birds and critters you thought possible. The kayak rental includes a visitor fee so you can tour the whole center, too. A must visit if you’re in the area.
