Before anyone reads all the prior comments and choses not to come here, read CURRENT reviews and mine. Some prior bad reviews might have been because of not so great staff which probadly aren't there anymore. I was there on a slow day. We never felt like we were a bother or interrupting.
My friend and I visited here on a Tuesday, looking for someplace different for our monthly lunches. It did not disappoint ! We were graciously greeted at The Cabin by a very personable woman. She answered all questions we had about food choices and also asked if my friend had nut allergies because her pasta salad had pesto on it containing nuts. She explained which buildings had the wine, desserts and the farm store with bakery. We were headed over to get wine, so she said she'd hold off on preparing our meals to give us a chance to taste and shop. At the Greendance wine store we were greeted by Linda, the moment we opened the door. She directed us to the tasting area, explained the types of wines, offered 3 samples and was spot on in what we where looking for. We left with 2 take home bottles and one she opened for our lunch. We walked outside, chose a table and just then our food was ready. Large portions of good food !! The chicken salad croissant sandwich was a tasty, the side of potato salad was very similar to what I make, so good, too.
Time for dessert even though we were stuffed. I chose cheesecake topped with raspberries and whipped cream and my friend picked blackberry pie and coffee. Again, the counter person was very nice. The coffee was going to take a moment. She told us to go sit and she brought it to to our table when it was ready. We were able to just relax and talk in the shade of the tree covered patio. So cute. It started to rain, so we never made it to the farm store and bakery, but now we have a treat for when we return again. In the 3 hours since I've been home, I've already recommended this place to 5 people. Take a drive, have some wine, a bite to eat and dessert. You should not be disappointed....
Read moreI’ve visited Greendance Winery at Sand Hill twice—once with my father and another time with both my parents—and both experiences left us deeply disappointed.
During our first visit, the service was noticeably slow and disorganized. When we politely asked the older woman behind the bar about the differences between sweet and dry wines, she shrugged and offered no guidance. Rather than clarifying or helping us navigate the tasting options, she abruptly refused to serve us, leaving us confused and unwelcome.
As a 21-year-old who enjoys visiting local wineries, I always come prepared to show my ID and respect the rules. However, I’ve experienced repeated instances—especially at Greendance—where, despite showing valid identification and having my age verified, I am still refused service. It’s incredibly discouraging to be treated this way as a legal adult and paying customer who wants to enjoy and support a local business. This kind of treatment only reinforces a sense of exclusion and discrimination that should have no place in hospitality.
Hoping our first visit was just an off day, we returned again with my mother joining us. Sadly, we were once again met with indifference and subtle dismissal at the bar. We stood waiting patiently to be acknowledged, but were overlooked entirely and ultimately left without purchasing anything, not because we didn’t want to, but because we were made to feel like we didn’t belong.
I genuinely enjoy the atmosphere and the idea of supporting regional wineries, but this was an unfortunate and repeated reality at Greendance. Until the staff offers consistent respect and inclusion to all guests—regardless of perceived age or appearance—I cannot recommend...
Read moreOverall: the best winery in the region - hands-down! Greendance has excellent local wine and the best atmosphere for a relaxing weekend (or whatever). Forget about the wine for a minute... there's SO MUCH MORE going on at this place. My family started going here many years ago when the winery was a relatively new addition to the already-established berry farm. You have the well-known Sandhill Berry farm with a full bakery/retail operation, the winery with an excellent and diverse selection, the FULL-TIME restaurant-quality food service including dessert, the regularly-scheduled live music and ample seating, an outdoor wedding area in the woods on the farm hillside, and a great private party location. Every time we go to Greendance, it seems like they're building something new or improving the infrastructure to facilitate more services. They were already hosting occasional top-quality dining events where they bring in outside chefs for a unique experience. But last year they built a new outdoor dining area to accommodate a full-time food service that is out-of-this-world. The quality of the food is excellent and the pricing is amazing. For about the same price as a family lunch at a chain restaurant, you can get much better fresh food here with a better atmosphere. The new dining area is like a little village.
This is a great place to hang out with your friends and family. Even small children are welcome and at-home here. They can enjoy the animals and listen to the music while the adults enjoy...
