Splash island is JOKE! Donβt waste your time or money. The bathrooms were awful. They have about 12 lifeguards on staff walking around a splash pad with recuse tubes pretending like someone might drown in ankle deep water. With all those people, apparently they have no one to clean a bathroom. There is no lazy river. They have one βbig slideβ that is incredibly slow. However you have to be 48β tall to ride it. The problem is that if you actually have a kid thatβs 48β tall, well thatβs the ONLY thing for them to do. Everything else is pretty much for small kids. My 7 year old was too big for all the baby stuff, but 1β too short for the βbigβ slide. I questioned them if I could go down the slide with her and they said no. Then I watched their summer camp kids who were 6β shorter than my child go down the slide. Also I should mention, half of the summer camp kids had on life jackets because they couldnβt swim. The slide empties into maybe 3 1/2β of water. My child was a much better swimmer than any of the other kids going down the big slide. So mad, we left the park after maybe 15 minutes. Called the park managers and the girl was extremely rude and unhelpful in resolving the situation. DONβT WASTE YOUR TIME AT THIS...
Β Β Β Read moreGreat family fun! This park is best for those with younger kids, pre-teens would be bored. The park has a toddler friendly splash area with a slide and several sprinklers/water features. The main pool has four small slides that empty into the shallow end of the pool, and a bigger slide that empties into the deepest end of the pool that's about 3 1/2" - 4" deep. There are some umbrellas so you can enjoy the water without standing in the blazing sun, and no big waves in the pool. There are lifeguards everywhere and the employees seemed to take their jobs seriously. We went during the last few days of the season so a lot of the food and drink options were out but prices were reasonable. Park rules state not to bring outside food/drinks but they don't check bags, as long as you're not bringing a whole cooler you should be fine. The drive into the park and parking was surprisingly rural, dirt roads and lots of scrubby marsh plants and trees. Bathrooms were adequate, the main bathrooms have stalls and showers with changing areas, and there was at least one family bathroom. Chairs are first come first served, life vests are also provided free of charge. Overall it was a great experience and we'll be going back...
Β Β Β Read moreWe were on vacation in Charleston looking for a place to cool off for a few hours. I'm so glad I found this place! We took our two small toddlers (2 & 3 year old) on a weekday late morning/lunch time and stayed for three hours ( 3 year old wanted to stay longer but it was already past naptime!). There's plenty of shade and chairs when we went but I can see how it could get packed on a weekend. There's also shade in the bigger swimming area but not any in the shallow area where the babies play. There's two slides, one for the babies and one for older kids. Life jackets to borrow but we brought our own, which could come in handy on weekends when it's crowded. There's also a snack bar with plenty of options and ice cream at the front desk. And it's definitely comforting to see all the lifeguards (I counted 9) watching over all the kids and being really attentive about it and actually doing their job. Highly recommend coming here if you have young kiddos! We'll...
