During my research on fun events at the Tulip Festival, I discovered the Tulip Valley Night Bloom laser and music show, which promised to be an exciting experience for my family. We arrived around 7:40 PM, eager for the festivities, and noticed the website stated that doors opened at 7:45. After waiting about 25 minutes in the parking lot and trying to call them twice with no response we were about to leave, but they finally started to open the ticket booth.
We expected tickets to cost $11 per adult and $8 per child, but our total came to $38 even with a military discount. The staff informed me that the prices are different depending on whether you purchase tickets online or at the door. We had cash and chose not to buy online, but they informed me that they only accepted cards—a fact that wasn't mentioned on their website. I couldn't understand the $8 price difference if card pay was the only option, so we ended up taking the extra 5 minutes to fill out their forms and pay online (which didn't have an option for my military discount) while a line of people passed us by. It would seem a lot easier and more transparent to just honor the price posted online at the door and to mention cash not being an option.
Once inside, we were impressed by the beautiful field. While we expected food prices during the festival to be high, the actual costs were excessive given the offerings, which included overpriced hot chocolate, coffee, and an $8 bag of popcorn. As a result, we opted not to snack there. I typically avoid leaving negative reviews for our local small-town businesses, but I have to be honest: the only truly enjoyable aspect was the fun little light-up circles that my 4-year-old loved jumping on.
Regarding the laser show, it was a disappointment. We anticipated an immersive experience set to music, complete with a theme, but we didn’t even notice when it started because there was no announcement or structure to the show. The upstairs viewing deck was the only proper vantage point to see the show, but the music played lacked any coherence to the show. We attended on a night without a live band, which was my oversight for not checking the schedule. Instead of live music, they played a mixed playlist of 50s rock and 80s hits, such as Journey, with little variety in between and nothing from the 2000s or newer artists. This seemed strange, judging by the age of the audience, they were more likely craving music from the 2000s to the present day.
After about half an hour of questioning whether this was just a pre-show warm-up or the actual laser show, my brother-in-law and I considered asking for a refund, but we discovered the tickets were non-refundable. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting Tulip Valley Farm during the day for stunning photos of their beautiful tulips. However, I strongly advise against spending your money on the Night Bloom show; it fails to meet the expectations set by the photos on their website and Google images for the...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our visit to Tulip Valley Farms. We visited both the gardens and the farm locations. It was a bit of an expensive day, however, as I believe we needed tickets for both spots. We got tickets for the smaller site first and arrived at our ticketed time and found not a single employee there. We walked all around and patted the beautiful cow but found it weird that a paid ticket was required. The only people there were two vans of school-aged kids, one van was stuck in the muddy section of the parking lot! The second location was wonderful! We liked that they have grassy rows between the rows of tulips (great chance for tulip close-ups!) and that it was smaller and much less crowded than the two larger growers in town. We went on a weekday morning and there were maybe 6 other people there at the time. Staff was nice but no special activities were running since it was a weekday/morning. We could’ve paid extra to cuddle a cow but I wasn’t sure how happy the baby cow would be around strangers plus we had already paid admission to the two small fields so we didn’t participate. Still, it’s a growing business and it was a delayed blooming season so I hope they stick with it as I think they have something special and different to offer and next year will be bigger and better. Give them a chance! Thank you,...
Read moreThis is the newest tulip farm and we went for Night Bloom on Saturday and it was a wonderful experience! It was amazing to see the tulips as the sun was setting. They had a fantastic light show with lasers and music viewed from a tall platform (one flight of stairs, standing room only) that lit up the tulips. Many solar lights in the field came to life once it was dark. Four fire pits added great ambience and we got to see the baby calves and goats as well! I read that you can feed the calves here for $75 pp. And the tickets sell out fast! The animal pens were extremely clean and well cared for. The planting of this field is unique and one we actually enjoyed the most with grass between the rows and trees planted between the tulip rows. It is very walkable which is nice. Yes, this farm is smaller and less vendors than the other established farms but the night bloom was a fantastic unique experience no one else had and for that and all the effort they put into it I give 5 stars, we thoroughly enjoyed it and I recommend! I look forward to seeing what this farm does in the future and I would go back to this event if we go to the...
