Easy drive from Blue Ridge. 15 minutes. Don’t expect the softest sand here. Mostly marble size round stones right at the water’s edge. The beach sand has a mix with the small rocks. All types of watercraft. From kayaks to pontoon boats. Looks like good fishing, I didn’t have time unfortunately. Sunset was nice. A few more clouds would have made it sweet. Rent a boat or a skidoo. We met a local guy who had two Hondas. He said that he had been at the river opening. Good parking. Bathroom and changing rooms available. Lots of picnic tables.

ROCKS!!! The water was incredibly warm, but the rocks were so painful that we ended up wearing our crocs in the water! We had to pay $5 per person. Bring water shoes! A local woman informed us that we could only have our dogs swim in the water at a specific spot.

This place costs $5/person to park, but is well worth it. Bring your own floats or rent SUPs from concessions. Water feels great!
