Really great beach to take your dog! Hardly any people there, even on this hot day. The beach is so big it’s easy to play with your dog without many other dogs jumping in (in case your dog isn’t great with other dogs). Parking is free after 5:30 pm at DCR lot (at Nahant Beach), but on a good beach day you’ll have to park pretty far down, so it’ll be a good 20-25 minute walk. That was fine because it was a nice walk, there’s even a bubbler at end of parking that has a low bubbler for dogs to drink out of! If THere’s not many people in parking lot, the walk is penalty close to 5-7 minutes. Like the other reviews say, there’s not really an official entrance to doggie beach (maybe way at the far end that’s farthest from parking?) But if you head towards where you can see a trash can that’s across from a building (near 52 Nahant Rd) that has a tiny park (swing set), there’s a small opening in the brush with a tiny path that’ll get you on to the beach with having to climb down the big rocks. Definitely worth the visit if you want doggie friendly beach access during the summer months and can get a good spot at DCR lot!

GREAT beach for the puppers! Open space and perfect area to let your dog roam about! Area does not have direct parking which you will have to park at Nahant Beach and then walk over. This makes it better for dogs because people won’t bring their kids over to sit on a rocky beach. All dogs MUST be vaccinated and up on shots. Dogs can be allowed off leash HOWEVER it is the owners soul responsibility if any incidents occur. Neither the DCR or Nahant Public Association are responsible for any injuries/accidents that you or your pet may cause. Please respect this space along with others to the best of your ability.

The beach area is great to let your pup off leash and enjoy the water. The sand area is separated from the road etc by dunes/barrier to prevent erosion which creates a great perimeter for dog safety. Be aware though that toward the end of the beach where there is rocks/house there is an alternate exit. FYI in case you have an escape artist. Not a bad walk from the parking area but it can be a little over a mile if the lot is crowded. .7 mi otherwise. On an overcast non-beach day/weekday it’s an easy destination for those who like us are not locals. This was @alformayor (IG) first beach trip and he liked it!
