Chimney Rock is our favorite winery in Napa, after having been there twice and visited both times. If you love great wine and want to have an elevated experience but in an unpretentious setting - then Chimney Rock is for you. It’s only 15 minutes from Downtown Napa and is absolutely beautiful - both inside and out. The staff are the most accommodating and down-to-earth group of people, and go above and beyond to make sure you have a stellar experience.
Our reservation was with Gary this time, after he received a glowing review from our friends who had just visited a few weeks prior. Boy, were they right! Gary made our experience at the winery a 10/10, and we didn’t think it could have gotten any better than our last visit 10 years ago, when we wandered in by happy accident on our honeymoon.
Gary is knowledgeable, funny, engaging, and easygoing. You could sit at the table with him for 8 hours and not get bored or antsy. His knowledge of wine is unmatched (and we visited 10 wineries this trip), and his stories of world travel and dry sense of humor will make it feel like you’re being guided through your tasting by your best buddy.
Now onto the wine - absolutely amazing. No notes. The tour takes you through the vineyard and then into the building where the wine is made/stored, and it’s a truly fascinating experience. Not every winery takes you that up-close and personal. Each wine is crafted so specifically and thoughtfully. For Napa, the price of their wines is probably right in the middle — more expensive than some of the mainstream wineries, but not as cost prohibitive as some of the “elite” big names. We ended up joining the wine club, not only because we want to drink their wine in PA year-round, but we also just want to remain connected to the vineyard in any way possible!

Let's just cut to the chase: If you haven't been to Chimney Rock Winery, you're missing out. Big time. My wife, some fantastic friends, and I had the absolute pleasure of visiting last week, on March 7th, and it was an experience we won't soon forget!
From the moment we rolled onto the property, we were greeted with open arms (and a delicious glass of Sauvignon Blanc already waiting for us – talk about starting strong!). It was our first visit, and honestly, we felt like VIPs.
Then came Gary. Oh, Gary! Our wine educator wasn't just knowledgeable; he was a pure delight. He immediately made us feel welcome, snapping photos of our group like a pro and even jumping in for a few laughs. It's rare to find someone so passionate and enthusiastic about their work.
The tasting itself was a journey through Cabernet heaven. We sampled a range of their stunning wines, each with its own story, and Gary expertly guided us through the vineyard's history. We even got a tour of the beautiful facility, which is as impressive as the wines.
And those wines! Every single one was fantastic, but there was a clear winner for our group: the White Pebble Cabernet Sauvignon. Trust me, you need to hear the story behind that name. It's a fun fact that you absolutely have to discover for yourself by visiting.
Gary and the entire Chimney Rock team know how to make guests feel valued. They create an elegant and relaxed atmosphere, making it the perfect place for wine enthusiasts and newbies alike.

Read moreI recently had the most delightful visit to Chimney Rock Winery. My husband, our dog, and I decided to spend a sunny afternoon tasting wines at this gorgeous winery. Opting to sit outside, we were immediately struck by the breathtaking beauty of the property.
The wine tasting itself was exceptional. We sampled several wines, each more impressive than the last. The flavors were rich and memorable, truly showcasing the best of what Napa Valley has to offer. The staff was knowledgeable and passionate, making our wine tasting experience both educational and enjoyable.
But the highlight for us, and especially for our furry friend, was the unique 'barkuterie' board they prepared for our dog. It was such a thoughtful gesture and just goes to show how much Chimney Rock Winery goes above and beyond to ensure all guests, including the four-legged ones, have a fantastic time.
Overall, our visit to Chimney Rock Winery was nothing short of amazing. The combination of exquisite wines, stunning scenery, and exceptional service made our day unforgettable. I would highly recommend this winery to anyone visiting Napa, whether you're a seasoned wine connoisseur or just looking for a beautiful place to relax and enjoy some delicious wines. Don't forget to...
