Without a doubt the best winery we visited in Napa. Amazing small, family run winery. It was great to get away from the huge corporate wineries in the region and feel like part of the family for a bit. We visited due to the suggestion of a friend who had visited previously. We unfortunately weren't given a tour by the owners themselves, but our guide was still amazing. He walked us around the winery, through a small part of the fields, and into the fermentation room, pouring us generous glasses of wine the moment we finished our previous. I think we got to sample 8 different types before returning to the bar. At that point, he invited us to have a seat and gave us all the bottles he had already poured and let us have as many more samples as we wanted while perusing the wares. We really wanted to join the wine club, but couldn't as NJ has bizarre alcohol laws and prohibits shipping. Instead, we got a single bottle which was enough for our guide to offer us more before we left. I thought the story behind the wine was also fantastic as each type is named for a stage of a relationship from attraction to romance of the heart. This was our favorite winery in the region and we'll...
Read moreI cannot say enough nice things about this winery. First of all, this was hands down the best and most personal tasting we did in all of Napa Valley. They try different wines with you one on one, but never in a pressuring way. It truly feels like you are family, and they have bent over backwards to accommodate us. We joined their wine club because it was the first place we saw where you got to customize your alllocation and choose what you want every quarter. They have been so friendly everytime we have needed something. One of our logo’d glasses broke in transit back from our honeymoon, and I inquired about purchasing a replacement, and they sent a whole new pair with our bottles. Their stewards are so knowledgeable and you receive a warm newsletter every quarter with details on the company, which again makes it feel like family. Their customer service is quick to respond and so helpful. I would honestly give this place 1,000 stars if I could. It’s rare these days to see a company value their customers and their employees and this brand truly does that. Many Napa experiences are crowded and basically factory tours. A visit to this estate will be truly unique - you...
Read moreThis may have been the the best, most personal, inviting, and enjoyable wine tasting experience I've ever had. My wife and I visited O'Brien on a Wednesday at noon. We met with our Host, Bart. We started with a quick welcome tasting of sparkling wine, and a short tour of the wine making facility and barrel room. What followed wasn't a wine tasting, it was a story of life, love, and wine. Bart crafted a story about the winery, his wife, and the stories behind the wines. He was able to weave our life story with his story and it was a very moving intimate journey of self reflection. My wife was in near tears of joy at the end of the tasting experience. His thoughtful comments and engaging personality just made our day. All of that and we had wine, charcuterie, and cheese too! We enjoyed their different turn on Chardonnay, the Merlot, Seduction, and Cabernet Sauvignon. It's amazing what they do on the estate with only 40 acres. We joined the club and look forward to remembering our experience while drinking the wine. I'm likely paraphrasing our host, but he said there's nothing better than sharing a bottle of wine between you and your partner. Highly recommend,...
