Rector Reservoir Wildlife Area Trailhead — Attraction in Napa Valley AVA

The reward is getting to the top and the views on the backside as well as over the valley. Went on first day of spring and flowers were spectacular among the burnt trees, - mother nature has been very forgiving on this ridge.

The climb is challenging, rocky, slippery, and requires some clambering so you're not really getting to take in the views on the way up because you really need to watch your step and wear good hiking shoes.

Great place. I brought lead ammunition by mistake. So I couldn't hunt. The Game Warden checked me before going. He was nice and have me a warning. Whew! It slipped my mind. I know it's non lead only ammunition in California. Nice break. Lots of people going up there today. I would have had to hike far too bed safe while hunting. I am glad I took time to eat lunch first. Great timing. Next time I will take a pellet gun. There's no lead restriction...

We did this hike in the spring, when everything was green, and it was FANTASTIC!
