Mozaico — Attraction in Naperville

We LOVE the kitchen backsplash mosaic that the fine artist at Mozaico made for us. This was our 2nd purchase, the first was a marble mosaic rug. We are not rich, but like nice things and what a bargin - nice art, great quality, and when they said both will be done and in our hands in 4-6 weeks, they were on time every time. You cannot get this anywhere in the USA that I can think of. We had a custom backsplash (18 x 72 inches) and when we received it it looked like something you see in a museum! I almost don't feel deserving enough for such a nice piece of art. We installed it last night (it was easy, put the mosaic on a piece of OSB, buttered the backside with mosaic mud (from Lowes - they call it mosaic and glass tile mortar ) with a 1/4" notched trowel on the wall and rotated it into position. I used a 1/8" shim beneath the mosaic so I can caulk it with matching color for expansion. When we received it, I then thought, I have to move my switches and plugs , I don't want to put holes in this nice mosaic. I could have painted switch plate covers to help match but decided to move the switches and plugs to the underside of the cabinets - it worked out great. John is great to work with and so are the people overseas. DHL ships and for us the two always came after 5 pm as you have to have someone sign for it. My wife and I went back and forth on ideas, sizes and colors. Numerous emails with questions were sent to Mozaico. Every one of them were answered VERY quickly. We had concerns about ordering something online that we couldn’t see in advance. The money back guarantee helped, but still we were nervous about how the mosaic would actually look.

Fast forward to taking the plunge and ordering it: We were updated frequently by Mozaico on the shipment - great customer service. The moment of truth came when we unpacked it. Both my wife and I were stunned by how great it looked. As good if not better than the picture on the website. The colors were perfect and the design was just as it's portrayed online. Any concerns that we had, were completely dispelled and unmerited. I think Mozaico’s website is very truthful in how it represents each item. I also think that if you like it on their website, you will love it in person. What we chose is gorgeous and has total wow factor.

Mozaico gets it right on the three most important criteria:

We are happy with the mosaic that we received - it is exactly as we expected and was easy to install. However, the process and timing and communication between ordering and receipt was very poor. We had a lot of questions and it took about a month between emails and phone calls to figure out what and how to order (including exactly what they needed and recommended for measurements and installation). Once we ordered, It took twice as long to get it as promised (they indicated 4-6 weeks from the time we placed the order, and it took 12 weeks). During this time, they basically told us that they were "working on it", and we did not have any insight as to when we would receive it. After 10 weeks I demanded to either receive it or cancel and they suddenly had it finalized for our review and ready to ship (although it still took another 2 weeks to get it). If you are not in a hurry, it is probably worth it. If you have any type of schedule needs, I would not trust their promise of timing.
