If you have a lot of time, the Blue Heron trail is a healthy walk of almost 10 miles. But the most interesting part of it runs from the small lot on Needham Street and the large lot on Kendrick Street. If you have two cars, this is a great way to do a one-way hike that traverses over boardwalks through the marsh, runs along a pretty stretch of the Charles and ends by going around Kendrick Pond. Read moreI don't know where to start. This is one of my most favorite places on earth. There's a well beaten path around a beautiful lake. Last time I was here I saw 7 swans! There are random paths, some steep, some not - so you can choose your own challenge. You can hike deep into the woods. People ride bikes. There is a kayak place nearby which is aaaawesooooome! Best of all is the dog show! The owners are usually friendly & let the dogs swim in the lake. It's sooooo comical. I kayaked once while dogs were swimming, it was really funny. Read moreWalked a good portion of the Blue Heron Trail with some friends last weekend. I really liked parts of the trail but was disappointed in other parts. The wooded areas were really pretty to hike through, however in the first few miles we encountered multiple parts of the trail that went along roads or through parking lots. The trail was also marked sparingly so at times it was difficult to identify which turn to make when we would come to a fork in the trail.
