Tourist beware it cost $10 to get into the park they take your license down to give you a ticket to put on your dashboard and then a Meter person comes into the park to see if you paid ,you are told to put ticket on dash if the meter person did not see the ticket on your dash because maybe it was over looked so they give you a ticket that cost you an additional 20 or $30 and then you either pay it to the city or you can ask for a hearing. I asked for hearing I had my ticket and took a day out of work for the hearing they reschedule the hearing for another time which unfortunately I was unable to take another day out of work for the City of New Bedford so I had to pay the additional cost. My question why would you get a ticket if they have your license plate number at the front gate that they write down. Would it not make sense for meter person to verifie with the front gate if the car they going to ticket is on thier list as paid . It is my understanding the recreation department collects the money but doesn t inform the meter person who has paid when they are given tickets, now that is a money maker,so tourist be ware , until New Bedford changes there business at Tabor Park consider going to Fort Phoenix in Fairhaven parking is not an issue it's free there's plenty of spaces and the place is clean with no issues or concerns about being ticketed while you're in the park and the view is the same has tabor park. I hope the city also address the youth during off the wall at the top of the park before someone get hurts their us a small sign there but it is well know the youth still drive from that spot .New Bedford you can...

Pretty cool fort to check out. It was closed when I went. I'm not sure if it's usually open and you can go inside or not, but I walked around the outside. You can see inside the fort through the hole in the front door. On the inside It looked like the grass hadn't been cut in a long time and looked like a tarp and trash were on the ground. There is another part of the fort on the outside where you can walk around and through a couple of the bunkers. Unfortunately, there was a lot of trash thrown all over the place inside of the bunkers. It looks like the city, state, or whoever currently owns the property hasn't been...

This is a beautiful park. Historical and amazing. However beware of the parking. New Bedford has a parking ticket trap. Make sure you have that ticket on your dash immediately or you get a 15 dollar ticket. The museum which is run by the historical society validates parking but we got a ticket before we could get back to our car with it. Too bad they do not treat tourist a better. By the way that museum is amazing. It is also too bad New Bedford does not encorage museum visits instead of...

Nice walking area along the coast. Lots of benches to sit at. Historical fort with old bunkers. Beautiful boardwalk. It smelled like poop half the time no matter where we walked, guessing it was the water plant next to the fort. Or whatever people threw away in the trash cans. Ice cream shop only open Saturdays & Sundays. Public bathroom near the boardwalk.

Keep this beautiful peninsula , New Bedford's ocean beaches CLEAN! 🌞DO NOT LITTER. Protect the environment, protect the ocean. Protect the South Coast from reckless over development , embrace sustainable development , there is only one natural environment and once it is gone it will be gone forever.
