I have driven past Ottos Cheese Shop countless times, always intrigued by its charming storefront signage. Today, I finally decided to follow my instincts and step inside. And boy, am I glad I did!
The store lived up to its website's enticing pictures, with a gorgeous and inviting atmosphere. The selection of cheeses was truly impressive, and what made it even better was the warm and welcoming feel of the place. It instantly put me at ease and made me feel comfortable asking about the different types of cheeses.
With so many options to choose from, I initially felt a bit overwhelmed. However, the staff's attention and patience were exceptional. They listened to my preferences and helped me find exactly what I was looking for - a Texas-made Muenster cheese with a hint of smokiness. It was a delightful surprise and solidified Ottos Cheese Shop as my go-to place for all future cheese adventures.
To top off the experience, I received advice on a local wine that perfectly complemented my cheese selection. It was sweet and truly enhanced the flavors. When I woke up from my cheese-induced dream, I found myself already savoring the second half of my glass, knowing that I would recommend Ottos Cheese Shop to everyone I know in New Braunfels.
From pricing and presentation to the personable interactions and general vibe, Ottos Cheese Shop has nailed it. They even offer free samples and provide excellent pairing advice. I highly recommend paying them a visit - you won't be...
Read moreWhile driving through New Braunfels we spotted Otto's Cheese shop. As it is usually a rarity to see a standalone cheese shop we had to stop. Wasn't quite sure if it was open as there weren't any reviews on Google. Turns out they had just opened and we were some of their first customers. First off, Otto is not the owner's name it is actually their dog's name. But the owner and his wife were very knowledgeable on the different cheeses and pairings and of course they are more then happy to let you try some samples. They also have a variety of condiments, crackers, wine, beer to serve with the cheese and are happy to make suggestions on what pairs well with each cheese you buy. And they are more then willing to help you design a custom cheese board. The cheese and meat we bought are delicious and they even wrap it in actual cheese paper instead of plastic to help keep it fresh. For for you nerds out there, like myself, the owner knows the Cheese Shop Skit from the Monty Python Flying Circus series. Which immediately endeared me to him. The only downside I have after visiting here is that we live in Dallas so unfortunately I can't stop in on a regular basis. But will definitely stop off here the next time we are near New Braunfels. I wish you success with your...
Read moreJust stopped in on my way home and was pleasantly surprised. This is a cute little shop with a good variety and selection of cheeses, wines, crackers, jams, and chocolates! (To name a few) The associate who helped me was very knowledgeable about the products and made recommendations of cheese and wine, as well as type of cracker that would go best Based off of my preferences. My husband and I have very different preferences when it comes to cheeses and she was able to recommend a cheese that we would both like almost immediately. It was great! Some reviews mention a higher price, but you can order very nice cheeses in increments of fractions of a pound, they also let you sample cheeses so you know exactly what you're getting before buying. Yes, they're a little bit more expensive than what you may find in the pre-sliced section of HEB, but I feel that the prices are comparable to the more gourmet section of HEB. If you're going to compare prices, make sure we're comparing apples to apples. Again, excellent selection and products and we will definitely be stopping in...
