This pier/park was redone in 2019/2020? (Don’t quote me on that). I often came here in 2020 to clear my mind of the craziness. The sunsets are gorgeous and can’t be beat. I’ve been back quite a few times since then, but what I saw today was really disheartening! The shrubs in the parking lot were overgrown and there was trash EVERYWHERE. This place used to be well maintained- what happened? I stayed for about 30 minutes on my lunch break- luckily the water is still calming. I guess I need to go back for the sunsets so the trash isn’t as noticeable. It’s too bad that a place that was once so peaceful isn’t as enjoyable anymore.

I love that it's a historical site, and one where people fought for our independence but.... for it to be closed on Memorial Day weekend and no flags flying is just wrong! This place is flanked on one side by a U.S. Coast Guard Station and on the other by a U.S. Armed Services Reserve Center which shows just how important this site is. I would give it 5 stars because of the historical significance of this site but the lack of respect to our veterans is the reason it only got 4. If someone can show me flags flying here tomorrow which is Memorial Day I'll gladly and proudly change my review to 5 stars.

This place was NOT closed on Memorial Day as another reviewer mentioned, maybe they were lost... We came here the Monday of Memorial Day after finding out the lighthouse park had $30 parking fees...what a rip-off for out of state visitors 🙄 Fort Nathan Hale on the other hand had free parking, not too crowded, and was the perfect place to spend a sunny day. There were some folks fishing off the pier when we went, but overall pretty low key for visitors. I imagine there's not much appeal to come here when the weather is bad since there's no where to really take cover.

Such a peaceful place to sit and enjoy the scenery. Sunrise or sunset or just in the middle of the day the view is breath taking. If your interested in learning about the history of Fort Nathan Hale A simple walk around the area could teach you lot of what use to be there many many yrs ago as well.

Simple and beautiful sweet spot for sunset and fishing. Only would recommend bringing a flashlight or headlight and bug spray
