Bryce is a park with many thing and many activities for many types of people. I will primarily review the DH bike park. Did you know they have an on site air port? So if you are fortunate enough to be able to fly like a bird over the rest of us mortals sitting in traffic...can I get a lift?Is Bryce Family friendly? Omg yes. We talked to kids on the balcony watching mom smash the NAR. I even picked up their bluetooth speakers. They were just about eye level to the lift chair. My very own children did the green runs on kids bikes. There is a stream for cray fishing. Pool, zip line, water park? We saw kids with inner tubes? The hotel picknick area, and play ground, and the pool overlooks the DH bike park and zip line course (bikers can high five zip liners) (the zip line course is over the bike park) (so cool) so even if you are all doing "you". You all still see each other and speak to each other every 20 minutes. It makes it feel more like family time even when you are doing different things. It's a small resort....in a good way....no great way.Is Bryce the greatest DH bike park evAr? (Cliff notes yes) if you live near DC then yes. Bike parks are not about getting a workout. Bike parks are not even about smashing the Nar. Bike parks are about spending the day with your boys and occasionally hopping on your bike. Bryce is a small Mountain. It's like a small hole in the wall bar that only the locals really know. But once you know you know. It's hidden it's out of the way nobody knows about it you go there and you actually know the people taking your bike off the lift. You know the mechanic in the bike shop and unfortunately you know the paramedic by name. Yeah our last trip we spend some time in the first aid room. Top notch. They have very good working relationship with Shenandoah Memorial Hospital. Oh let's talk about the bike Park. If you're really into biking you've heard of Whistler the Premier downhill mountain biking park in the world. Bryce was designed by the same people. Built and maintained by professionals. This is not some trail through the woods. This is perfectly manicured smooth dirt that you can ride down on a hardtail. However Trails like "pickle bomb" you might want to full suspension but everybody I know rides trail bikes there... with no problem. Anybody can bring any bike there and have a great time. And there's like no rocks, it's amazing, any other downhill Park within 5 hours of Washington DC is just covered in rocks except for Bryce. It's like magic. So if you love flowy trails and purpose-built jumps and cool wooden features and never waiting in line to get on the lift chair and being 2 hours from Columbia Maryland so it's no problem to take a day trip and knowing half the people on the mountain and being able to park 30 feet from the lift and barbecue in the parking lot and hang out with your boys and ride your bike this is the perfect day trip. Here's a picture of my...

Overall, my experience at Bryce Mountain Biking Park was amazing. It was the best mountain biking park of my life, but I have to give them four stars because while my mountain biking experience was splendid, my bike/ski lift experience was tragic. The first ski lift ride we took up the mountain took 45 minutes to deliver us to the top, going painstakingly slow and stopping over 10 times. One time it was especially frustrating because we were stopped on the lift about fifteen feet from the spot where you get off the lift. We later learned it was due to construction being done on the lift, but we were not given any discount, voucher, or partial refund, and no one explained the abnormally slow lift to us. Even when the lift wasn’t stopping for construction, it was extremely slow—so slow that someone started biking up the hill and beat us to the top. What slowed down the ski lifts even more was the fact that the lift was stopped for all the sightseers so they could get off and on (taking the lift up and down for the views of the mountain). Stopping the lift for ALL the sightseers makes no sense considering all the mountain bikers get off and on the moving lift. In addition, there was construction (not posted on the website) on a couple of trails that made them rougher and more covered with leaves and sticks. Nevertheless, mountain biking at Bryce Park was my best mountain biking experience ever. I definitely recommend it—I just hope they can make the lift process more efficient. If you are looking for some of the best downhill mountain biking in the DC area, Bryce is the spot. It’s not cheap, but it’s high-quality and there are mountain biking trails for all levels, including 1 green, 4 blue trails, and 4 black trails. They rent out high-quality bikes and bike protection gear and also have a resort (and private condos) with a pool, sport courts, and more. Bryce Mountain Park is a great place to mountain bike, with trails featuring huge drops, tabletops, gap jumps, amazing berms, huge wooden features, amazing flow, and more! They also offer the opportunity to take mountain biking lessons, buy mountain gear, and of course ski during skiing season.
For context of my photos and videos: We went on a Wednesday in between peak seasons, so it was not busy. We didn’t ever have to wait more than a minute to get onto the lift. Some advice from our trip today, not all the trails were open at 11:30 because they were still opening the bike park up and there was barely anyone there. There were still many amazing...
Read moreThis was my first time visiting this resort. The staff was very nice and friendly. I had one instructor (wasn’t able to get his name) saw me struggling with putting on my skis and he came over and adjusted the ski so that it fit my boot size. I really appreciated that. So for staff and instructors 10/10.
Now I had some issues with the ski slopes. I’m not a pro whatsoever this was only my 4th time skiing but I did encounter some struggles. Since it’s early December it’s all fake snow which I expected. But what I also expected was for them to continuously put out more fake snow as the day went on. I got on the slopes around 12:30pm. The snow was smooth and even with a couple icy patches but nothing too crazy. I was there until about 5pm. So of course As the day went on the temperatures dropped and the slopes just became complete ice patches, and no fake snow was added to the ground. So for a beginner like myself it was definitely difficult to slow myself down and control my speed when going down the deadeye slope (the easiest slope on the resort).
Also in my personal opinion the deadeye slope is not a beginner friendly slope, even though it’s the easiest slope to use on the resort. Maybe it was because it was so icy that’s the reason I struggled so much I don’t know.
Overall I had a great time. The price for ski rental and lift tickets were probably the best prices I’ve personally ever seen for ski tickets. So I will definitely be returning...
