Great park! Great views! Dates of stay: 22-24 Jun 17. No water, no showers, no electric, no refuse/trash service (pack it in, pack it out). 26 campsites advertised on NM State Park website map; but please note spots 1-3 are not accessible for RVs...they are strictly tent sites only. There is a spot 4 site (right by the boat dock) that is not listed on the map. Sites will have a mixture of a picnic table, ground-level fire ring or a post fire ring/grill. The park was full by Friday night. One family set up their pop-up just off the narrow park road (not a designated site) and the park ranger rightfully made them leave. I stayed at Spot 8 (right on lake front) with 14 ft trailer. Spot 8 had no picnic table, it has a ground-level fire ring. Spot 8 also has a fairly significant east-to-west slope, so bring extra leveling blocks if in a RV because a good portion of the sites have slopes. Spots 5 and 6 looked fairly level and are very easily accessible for RVs...for RV'ers it gets a little sketchier as you progress through the the park. Spot 13 is a nice pull in/pull out spot from either direction. The park road ends in a square parking lot at Spots 25-26 where there may be several vehicles parked, so turning around with an RV could be tough. The 18 foot or less requirement for RV'ers is very justified. At the intersection of NM 518 and NM 94 there is a gas station for last minute essentials. As you pull off of NM 94 enroute to the park it is a 3 mile drive. The road will be narrow, steep in some parts, and with little to no shoulder in several areas. Nice walking trail around the lake (mixture of packed dirt, rocks, fallen trees) .... unfortunately you do come across broken glass bottles, beer cans, trash, etc. Lots of folks fishing. Vault toilets were very good and were cleaned each day. A lot of folks (to include me) had their dogs with them. Some folks fishing will discard fish guts/heads, dead fish on the ground so your pups may try to help themselves to a snack. Cell phone coverage okay...I have Verizon. Slow to receiving texts/emails, but they did come through. Sending texts/emails was sporadic at best. Receiving/making voice calls was...

Not far from Mora and Las Vegas New Mexico we stayed at Morphy Lake - what a gorgeous spot! It was so green we found ourselves feeling like we had crossed over the Colorado border. Tall pines and a beautiful shoreline, this 30 acre lake is perfect for fishing, camping, and spending time with friends and family.

The parks elevation is at 7,953 ft. There are 24 first-come, first-served, primitive developed campsites at $10 per night per site - offering picnic tables, fire rings and several vault toilets that are well maintained. Non-motorized boating is allowed, and the lake has a nice boat ramp.

A nice paved road leads to the campground, park rangers are in the vicinity off and on most all day. Bring your own wood and water, pack out all your trash (no trash cans or dumpsters) and cell phone service is usually decent.

My only complaint was the loud drunk guys across the lake that partied all night one evening - but we later learned that we can call the state police and they will come...

So beautiful! The state did a great job making this park clean and comfortable. HOWEVER! The road to the park is atrocious! The poor people who live down that road! 🤯I understand this is a county road. Surely the county can afford a load or two of concrete to at least patch the craters in the road! It is bad enough that you can barely get two cars passed each other in some parts, but the pot holes as big as a car are quite ridiculous! Come on Mora County! Fix this road so we can all appreciate this gorgeous Park! We saw a guy almost loose his little RV off the side of the road because he was trying to get over to let someone pass him. 😳. His trailer fell off the edge and...

BEAUTIFUL!! The views are spectacular and the campgrounds are very clean. No running water or electric so the place gives you the feeling like you're not at an RV park. Lots of tent campers and camping trailers are limited to 18 feet. The road to get to the lake is winding and some may feel car sick coming through but it is 100% worth the drive. Great time for small and large groups.

This is a hidden gem of a lake, there was forest fire that burned the area up to the park area. But once you make it to the park it is peaceful, quiet and kept super clean. This is also a no power or water campground, which may not be for everyone. It is also a great place for seeing the stars at night.
