While not very large in size or selection of exhibits, the NM Wildlife Center is worth visiting. There are a few different avian cages where you can view several birds that have been healed, but that cannot be released back into the wild. There are also a few other animals viewable here, but the variety is very sparse. Though the NM Wildlife Center is not really a premier zoo, there are other reasons to visit it. The main reason I feel the center is worth the effort is because its main mission is healing and treating wildlife. It also has an outreach program to teach children about the various animals in the area. The paltry charge to enter (I think it was 4 dollars) gave me the opportunity to see the end result of the care given to our state's wildlife, and made me feel a new appreciation for the work done there.

A wonderful non-profit that helps a variety birds, raptors, a raccoon, a coyote etc. They have eagles, owls, falcons and an osprey. This is a nice place to visit, it's not depressing. It's $5.00 per adult. They have an online gift shop. They have wonderful staff and volunteers!

Ohmygosh everytime we visit we learn something new!!! Today we learned a lot about snakes and that they shed their skin every couple months! Everyone is so friendly and informative. This is a great way to spend a couple hours

Holy moly! I'm in love with this place. After seeing the sign on the main road, we flipped around to check it out. I'm so glad we did! For a meager $4 entry fee (they could double the fee and it would be more than worth it) you can check out a bunch of native animals that have been rescued, and are either recovering or are unable to be released back into the wild. I loved being greeted by two magpies. I've always seen them from afar, and it was wonderful to be able to really look at their beauty up close. Scores of other raptors, owls, reptiles, a couple bobcats, and a grey fox are all there to check out. The staff were insanely friendly and their passion for what they do is infectious. We we're lucky enough to come around feeding time, and got to follow a gentlemen around as he supplied rats, elk, and rabbit meat to their various residents. Bonus surprise was the cholla garden. I had no idea there were so many different kinds! The cacti were impressive as well. We will...

Eh. The staff were friendly but when we started our tour of the outside cages they were just standing under the portal or inside with the AC. When we went inside (with the AC) they told us all sorts... about the inside animals. I felt like one of the bored employees might have followed us and the several kids i was taking and told us about these animals outside. You're going to have to ASK one of them to dare to go outside in the sun for 5-10 minutes if you want to learn about these animals out in the pens and cages. That being said, one young lady actually came out... under the covered portal to show us the tiny desert owls. That was very...
