Don't count on the gate being open - it's about a 6 mile hike from the road, 12 miles round trip with some minor changes in elevation. BRING WATER and a towel. It'd be an easy trip with a bicycle, and there is a fence you can lock your bike to at the end. The springs trail is poorly marked. When you get to a fork in the trail, cross the bridge to get to the base of the springs. The top spring is the hottest and seems to be the biggest and deepest. If you're physically fit, the 12 mile round trip hike is worth the visit to the springs, just come prepared and arrive ideally before 1pm so you don't end up potentially getting caught in the dark on the walk back.
Nearby, there are some old abandoned and vandalized cabins you can explore, though be mindful of broken glass and animal droppings. You can find them behind the gate just past the bridge at the base of the springs.
Limited parking and no to very limited cell service. No trash cans...

The trail to the hot springs is easy and beautiful. Only a few hundred yards up a moderate slope to reach the hot springs. I arrived at the parking lot around 8:00 am and there was no one there. I had the hot springs to myself for over an hour! On the hike out I passed twelve people total headed in so if you want some solitude, arrive early. The hot springs are fantastic. Beautiful views and pools with different temps to please anyone. I was happily surprised to see very little trash near the hot springs, a problem that taints many other hot springs. If you’re in the area, this is a great little hike for the payoff. Even when the gate is closed, the five mile hike is not strenuous. The road has slight ups and downs but is not challenging in any way but the distance. My favorite hot...
