The store acted as John Tunstall's personal residence as well as the store competing directly with Murphy and Dolan's enterprise. The recreation of this store is great. Cheers to the preservation team who kept up the appearance of a late-1800s general store. Behind the store, both Alexander McSween and John Tunstall are buried, and you can pay your respects at their graves, although rumor has it the original graves were washed out many years ago by the Bonito river behind the store, and so these are simply replacement markers.

What an interesting museum of an old dry goods store. I loved looking at all the odds and ends, some being original for sale items. The volunteer knew much about the store and told us the history.

This is a museum, not a souvenir shop. Souvenirs can be purchased a few buildings over. Be patient with the business hours as this town does not expect large crowds of tourists every single day.

The front of the store is the most interesting although the entire house has been kept as close as was back in the day. Kept as intact and identical to what they saw back in the hay days. just being in the exact spot where many historically important western history happened is a rush. The entire area is amazing. I love visiting this place where a...

Run by NM Historic Sites, the store is refurbished and shelves are stocked with actual boxes sold in the store in the 1920s, which were stored in the basement till it was reopened as a historical attraction. Staff is throughly knowledgeable of stores history from it's...
