The Claiborne Avenue Bridge is actually named the Judge William Seeber Bridge. It is a vertical lift design allowing it to lift to let taller ships traverse the canal. Unfortunately when it is lifted vehicles cannot pass, but a larger truss style bridge would not have fit the area. The view from the bridge is great and it does a good job.
