The macaroni at this restaurant is the cheapest and most disappointing Iāve ever tasted. In fact, itās not even macaroniāitās ramen noodles pretending to be macaroni. Who thought it was acceptable to use cheap ramen noodles in place of authentic macaroni? This is a disgrace to Jamaican cuisine and culture. The owner should be ashamed to charge $5 for something thatās worth $1. Itās a complete rip-off and a major fail.
The meat lacked authentic Jamaican flavor, the cabbage was overly salty and mediocre, and the rice was poorly cookedātoo watery and salty, as if prepared by someone with no experience. The food is so overloaded with salt it feels like a recipe for high blood pressure. This restaurant needs new cooks immediately, and the FDA should inspect it because the place is neither clean nor serving quality food.
To make matters worse, the portion sizes are small, and the container was so flimsy it broke. After one bite of the āmacaroni,ā I threw it in the trashāit wasnāt worth eating. Even my dog wouldnāt touch it! While macaroni may not be a traditional Jamaican dish, itās still simple to prepare, and Americans know when itās done wrong. Using ramen noodles is unacceptable, and the quality of the food is embarrassing.
I traveled from Houston to New Orleans expecting better, but this was a disaster. Based on my experience and reading other reviews, itās clear Iām not alone in my disappointment. This place is a disgrace to Jamaican food, and the owner needs to invest in better cooks and higher standards.
You donāt even know the amount of food your staff gives. If you see the little cup was broken because I threw it away.
My experience is my evidence. Iām giving an honest review. Your food is garbage even my dog wouldnāt eat it! I didnāt eat your ramen noodles macroni, I took a pic after I threw it in garbage so some of it was in the trash so donāt flatter yourself and invest in better cooks! Your food is disgraceful and from reading other...

This is NOT a vegan establishment. However, the food I got were. I went twice within 3 days cause well⦠I had to. I tried their jerk wings and their impossible burger. For sides I had the cabbage and the sweet plantains. Mango tea is the way to go here.
The jerk wings came with 4 wings and 2 sides. I think for the price point they couldāve thrown in like an extra couple of wings because the non-vegan oxtail had a lot. Nonetheless where am I gonna get Jamaican food in this city š š š The wings came on a bed of rice and peas. The sides I chose were sweet plantains and cabbage. I found the rice to be a bit dry but everything else was super delicious. The wings had a nice jerk spice, but I think it could use a bit more heat so that it tingles a little. It is made of soy protein wrapped around a sugarcane stick. Hereās what to expect: the protein itself is a bit soft on the inside, not thick and dense like actual chicken; the seasoning is good but is missing some smokiness I think and a bit more heat; and it comes with a sweet sauce on the side. The cabbage was very well seasoned. Iām usually not a fan of cabbage, but Iām so glad I gave this one a shot. The sweet plantains were rightfully chosen so they caramelized nicely.
I had the impossible burger on a different day. It comes with 1 side. Naturally I had the cabbage again. Yes, I got cabbage with my burger. I donāt care what you say but the cabbage is THAT good. The burger itself had a really good spice going on. But PLEASE if you are watching your sodium intake then tread very carefully. The salt content in the burger was almost too much to bear. I would try it again to see if it was just an off day, but itās kind of pricey when I could get the wings that I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATE I returned to JJH after have a conversation with the owner. Completely different experience. Food was hot, fresh and well presented. Rice was moist and flavorfull. The Brussel sprouts really does not have a word created to describe how awesome they were. I could honestly eat the Brussel sprouts all day, everyday. Highly recommend ordering the Brussel sprouts. The corn was very tender and seasoned to perfection with the anointing of buttery juices in every bite. "JJ" greeted me with a smile and utmost respect. I dined in and enjoyed the atmosphere and this time based in the cultural music of Jamaica. Food was so good, i had to order a plate togo. I have much respect for Mrs. J and Mr. R. It speaks volumes when they choose to hear the concerns of their customers and actually do something about it. For that reason alone, I was willing to give them another try. I have much respect to them for that. With that being said, I WILL DEFINITELY be back and I highly recommend eating there, even if it's just for the Brussel sprouts! ā¤ļø **Food was ok. Some may love it. Cabbage wasn't my favorite but I was meeting a friend and he chose here and raves about it. The rice was a little dry for my liking. Plantains were good. Wanted to order the Brussel sprouts but was told they had just thrown them away because they were about to close. They ran out of plastic ware so some people had nothing to eat with. The ginger beer was also good. Can't say I will or won't be back, just not...
