The pool is really nice, it's actually on a boat that's docked, so it's really nice. The pool itself is a part of the New York Parks and Rec department, so it's free. The pool is really strict with rules, but that's what makes it fun. When the pool first opens, and between swimming sessions, there are huge lines, and before they even let you on the boat, they have to check your bags. I've taken food in, a lot too, and they don't seem to mind. You can eat on the top deck of the boat. The view is really nice, but there is one thing that is really important. As soon as you step onto the boat, NO PHONES! This is the most kept rule they have, and they will tell you to put your phone away. This is for the safety of children, as well as anyone who does not want to be seen, aka people in the Witness Protection Program, and just want to swim. There are no underwear allowed in the pool, so if you're wearing a bathing suit, you need breathable lining on the inside, and if you're wearing a two piece or one piece, you're good, just make sure you're not wearing underwear. If you're self-conscious like me, you are allowed to wear a white shirt into the pool. Any cut of shirt is fine, but it has to be white. The locker rooms are nice, but the lockers are kind of small, so if you're holding things for multiple people, you may have to take more than one locker. There are people in the locker rooms who will check to see if you have underwear by asking you. In the boy's locker room, there is a man who only speaks Spanish. I can speak it, but if you can't, he usually just asks if you're wearing anything underneath your bathing shorts. You must take a shower before going to the pool, just a rinse, and then to the pool. The actual pool is good, it's pretty big, not huge, and you get a nice view of I think New Jersey. The lifeguards are all pretty young, and they like to play music from the...

Read moreBarretto Point Park pleasantly surprised me with its charm and tranquility. Nestled in the Bronx, this waterfront park offers a much-needed escape from the city's hustle and bustle. The park's location along the East River provides stunning views of the water and Manhattan's skyline. It's a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll, a family picnic, or simply unwinding while gazing at the river. The recreational facilities are impressive, with well-maintained basketball courts and soccer fields that cater to sports enthusiasts. The playground area is a hit with kids, and the well-shaded seating areas make it comfortable for parents to relax while keeping an eye on their little ones. One of the standout features of Barretto Point Park is the Floating Pool, a unique amenity that offers a refreshing respite during the summer months. It's a fantastic addition that sets the park apart. The commitment to the environment is evident through the park's eco-friendly initiatives, including native plantings and sustainable design elements. It's a testament to the city's dedication to creating green spaces that benefit both residents and the planet. Barretto Point Park may not be as well-known as some of the larger city parks, but that's part of its charm. It offers a serene escape, a place to connect with nature, and a vibrant community space all in one. It's a hidden gem worth discovering in the...
