Arlyn Vineyard — Attraction in Newberg

I don't have proper words for how much I love Arlyn Vineyard. If I could give 10 stars I would. I've been to many, many, many vineyards and was blown away not only by the property, but by Janis as a human being, and her INCREDIBLE wines.

My friends and I did a tasting here (our first of the day) and I wanted to cancel all the other Vineyards on our schedule and just stay at Arlyn all day. The wines were exceptional and it is clear that Janis is a woman who treats her job as steward of the land with the utmost integrity, love and passion. The whole Arlyn experience is beyond elegant and dripping with charm. Her animals are exceptional and the whole place is magic. DID I MENTION THE WINES ARE EXCEPTIONAL?

One more note: I happened to be at the winery when the person who wrote the single one star review arrived without an appointment. Janis handled the situation with such professionalism and explained reservations were required and people could not just show up to see her animals. I was particularly impressed with how firmly she held this boundary as a female business owner. Janis is a gem and must be protected...

Unfortunately my experience with Janis today was extremely negative and uncomfortable. I did not have a tasting reservation but was visiting other wineries in the area so I drove in to see her farm and animals. Having read her web site invitation,

“It is an honor to welcome friends to the farm and share the journey of this project. Whether you want to stroll through the vines immersed in farming practices, meet the farm animals and puppies or focus specifically on what is being poured in those pretty Zaltos, we look forward to greeting you.”,

I felt welcomed to come to admire her animals.

Janis ran to my car, not to greet me, but close to tears she began to verbally assault me for assuming I could just drive in and see the animals. I don’t know anything about Janis, but it appears that she is overwhelmed by all the work involved. She more than once let me know that she is a single woman operating the farm alone. How dare I come without a reservation!

I would like to think I caught her on a bad day but I have since learned that I am not the only person who has received that kind of...

In general I never leave negative reviews, but I'm compelled to do so here.

Twice in the last 2 years they have run my card and not sent wine. The 1st instance was rectified 7 months later and Janis did make it right by sending additional bottles. We reciprocated by visiting the farm last May, and bringing another couple that bought wine as well.

However, our card was run in late October '24 for the fall wine club shipment, which never arrived. After multiple emails that went unanswered she finally acknowledged their error, at the end of January, and agreed to refund us for the wine that we did not receive.

7 weeks later and we have still not received the refund. I emailed last week, no response...Perhaps this review will...
