I want to give this a 3.5 but 3 is where I will stand at.
We came in for the first time to check out the pool tables and play a little. At first impressions it could use some love that's for sure. It is highly unorganized. You aren't sure exactly where storage ends and the establishment begins. Seating is ok. That as well isn't highly established though. As it seems most of the places to sit are surrounded by so much clutter and/or games. And on open mic night all those tables get rearranged to make it worse. As for open mic night. Well it seems as though that's just an excuse for a bunch of guys to get together and chum up their skills. It was not overly entertaining.
The pool tables are clean and straight. So they are great to play on. Although they sit highly close together. So you constantly have to wait for the other tables to either finish their turn or ask them to kindly move over so you can play. The price is extremely reasonable I would say and worth the play. They have a foosball table, a giant connect and a few other games. One of those being darts. The location of the dart boards are not in the greatest. One is right next and I mean right next to the entrance of the womens restroom. Making you question your safety when leaving the bathroom that a drunk dart player doesn't miss. We decided to order food and got chicken strips and fries and a burger and fries. We got told to please wait the cook wasn't feeling well so she was late. Not reassuring when you're ordering food. But we decided to anyway. Fortunately we didn't have to wait to long for her to get there. It was maybe 10-15 minutes. The food was good. The fries are amazing. We ended up ordering a few more baskets because they were so good. The bar is ok. Drinks are hit and miss. Not hugely consistent though. So if it's a good moment you will get a good drink.
I don't mind pets being in an establishment. I will say I don't allow my own dog to beg. So it became a not so fun experience. The pets that they let the musicians bring in are not the best idea. They are not leashed and let to wonder the whole place. As one of the dogs kept coming up to my table and begging and shoving it's nose on our table while we were eating & trying to get to our food. He would not leave us alone no matter how many times we asked. The owner was no where near when we finally complained about it. He was at the other end of the establishment. Even then they did nothing about it as the dog kept coming to the table. Which ultimately led us to leave that night.
The staff were very nice but very slow. When we first got there we waited for some time on most everything. But figured it was due to the cook not feeling well and only one other staff member. Our second time there well let's just say it was worse than the first time. They complained about being tired and couldn't wait to go home and smoke a joint. Which was a little off putting. I don't mind that you do but not my business to know your personal business. Not ideal customer service. I will say when they owner is there it seems to be a little less slow. Although she seems highly involved in open mic night and it's musician's not customer service.
Overall it could use a good reorganizing and a little less visual chaos. The pool is worth it for the price and they are very kind young ladies that work there. I am not sure if I would frequent the place unless it has some help. But on occasion it...
Read moreThe place itself is absolutely wonderful,. Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint is a real jewel. It is one of a number of little known but stunningly beautiful parks that deserve to be supported and maintained by the public.
Several of my photos attributed to this location are mislabled. The GPS information is wrong. Some of my photos of streets and suburban parks and homes attributed to this location are part of the Arbor Roses community in South Hillsboro. The geo-positioning is incorrect and I have found no way to correct this. This applies to a number of other photos that have been assigned to the wrong location, albeit in the same general region where the photos were taken .There should be a way to reassign the gps data without removing the photo.
I recently posted a number of photos of snow covered landscape and winter scenes at the real Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint on Google Photos, but was unable to add them to Google Maps, because for some reason they didn't appear in the display of photos available for contribution to Maps. It appears that there is a lag in the time when geotagged photos are uploadeed to Google Photos and when they become available for posting on...
Read moreNow that the mask mandate has been lifted and anxious to get back out into the fresh country air, I found a beautiful drive through the valley and hills out of Lafayette. It is amazing to see so many hillsides now covered by an ever-growing number of wineries and vineyards. I will be anxious to return further into the spring and summer seasons to see these vineyards in full bloom. We had a little bit of an overcast sky for our drive but very pleased with the drive and scenery all the same. Once we reached the park, I continued on the short loop drive and parked. From the parking area we walked out on the man-made trails along the rim of the peak to the incredible viewpoint which overlooks a pretty good stretch of the valley looking off towards Gaston, as well as the coastal mountain range beyond. The park includes a large wide open grassy area along the parking loop and closer to the entrance is a picnic area with restrooms and more trails through the groves. I highly recommend a visit to be made by all...
