The Gettman Loop, on the south side of the road, is fairly well marked. It seems to be a one-way loop (counterclockwise) since if you go the other direction you'll encounter signs telling you to keep out unless you are a patron of the golf course. I'd classify it as a pretty easy trail. It is paved in some parts, and has a thick layer of barkdust / wood chips on other parts, fairly freshly laid at the time of this review. There are a few short steepish sections but most people should be able to handle them without any issue.
The Chehalem Glenn Loop, on the north side of the road, seems to be completely unmarked, and possibly non-existent (not yet built out?) since there is no description of it on the website. I asked a couple guys working at the golf course and they showed me a map of the "proposed" route, I guess drawn in the planning stages. Most of it is just pre-existing sidewalks on neighborhood streets adjacent to the northern half of the golf course, rather than walking/hiking paths, with one exception being a short trail segment cutting along the northern border of the golf course. The guys at the golf course said it wasn't worth it and I tend to agree. I did walk it anyway, though, and it was just a normal walk through some suburban neighborhoods and the PCC...
Read moreThis a nice 1.6 mile walk just minutes from hwy 99 and just across from the Newberg PCC campus. A great trail for a quick break from the hustle and bustle of the city. The trail takes you around the golf course, through a wooded area with the pleasant sounds of a good sized stream. The trail is impacted by rain, so if it has rained in the last few days, be prepared for several muddy spots that are impossible to get around. Overall, it is an enjoyable walk without having to...
Read moreJust tried this trail with my pup today. It’s a little muddy in spots with the weather but nothing bad if you have good walking shoes on. Trail is well maintained, and we saw many squirrels! My only complaint is that they have waste bags for when you start the walk but I didn’t see a bin for them at the end of the trail! We opted to take ours the short distance home with us. Great little trail close to home. We will...
