The wife and I had occasion to visit the winery the other day for the Spring Fete. This consisted of a pretty extensive selection of gourmet snacks (brie, pate, comte cheese, baguette slices, ham, etc.) and a glass of the newly released Rose for $25. We thought the price was more than fair, given what was provided. In addition to the Rose, there was also a selection of burgundy (white and red), chardonnay and pinot noir that was available by the glass (for a fee - prices were pretty reasonable, ranging from $8 to $17 for a 5 ounce pour). Wine quality is always pretty high here, and such was again the case at the Fete. The current Rose is very good (decent fruit and sweetness, but with great balancing acidity), and we also enjoyed the Roserock chardonnay and pinot noir. The 2021 Joseph Drouhin Rully rouge was also very enjoyable.
Frankly, it's really pretty hard to find any fault with Domian Drouhin. It's in a great location and the tasting room is nicely appointed. That being said, customer service is where this winery really shines. On one of our first visits here (many years ago), we joked with the staff that we really enjoyed all the wine, but wished they had some white burgundy available (my wife is a big fan). The staff member laughed, noting that unfortunately they typically didn't have any Joseph Drouhin available (this is no longer the case), but that there had been a recent event where they did open some bottles of white burgundy. He asked us to wait a moment while he checked to see if there was anything left. Sure enough, there was a remaining bottle of Premier cru chablis that was about a third full. My wife was delighted when he poured the remaining bottle into her glass, completely complimentary (I asked if I could pay for it, but he mentioned the wine wasn't in their system and that in any event there was no need).
During a recent prior visit, my wife and I stopped by to enjoy a glass of wine (there's always several different wines available by the glass here). As usual, we chatted with the staff for bit... everyone was very friendly. Once again, we discussed Domain Drouhin's burgundy heritage, and expressed our fondness for Joseph Drouhin wine. The winery was hosting a special group and had opened some older bottles of burgundy for the occasion. Without our asking, the staff member brought over one of the bottles of red burgundy that the group was enjoying and poured us a glass. Once again, no charge for this.
There are many wineries in the Willamette Valley that employ friendly staff and make great wine. However, I can't think of any place that matches the customer service found at Domain Drouhin. This place is great and an...

Holy Pinot Noir, Batman! What an incredible afternoon at Drouhin Oregon celebrating our friends' wedding anniversary! We signed up for "The Drouhin Oregon Experience" and Bryan delivered an experience that was worth every single sip.
From the moment we sat down, Bryan had us laughing and learning in equal measure. This guy doesn't just know wine - he practically IS wine! His passion for the craft was infectious, and his humor kept everyone engaged throughout the entire tasting.
We've never learned so much about Dundee Hills and Eola-Amity Hills while simultaneously snort-laughing. The wine was absolutely spectacular. Each pour told a story of the Willamette Valley's unique territory, and Bryan made sure we understood not just what we were tasting, but WHY it tasted that way. The flagship Cuvée Laurène? Chef's kiss - pure liquid poetry in a glass.
Bryan's energy was contagious. If you're looking for a wine tasting that's both educational and entertaining, book The Drouhin Oregon Experience with Bryan.
Trust me, you'll leave with a deeper appreciation for Oregon wine, a few new favorite bottles, and probably some sore cheeks from smiling so much.
Can't wait to come back and hopefully get Bryan again. This man deserves a raise and his own comedy special! Highly...
Read moreThis is a nice winery on Dundee Hills. They make, in my opinion, one of the best mass market Pinot Noirs which is widely available in the US - Domain Drouhin Pinot Noir. It is recommended that everyone, specially the ladies, bring something warm to wear as the micro climate might change here quickly and it can be quite cold outside which is were the tastings are held (during COVID restrictions). They do have blankets they offer, so feel free to ask for them even if, like us, you are not offered one right away.
We took the 1880 connection tasting and frankly were disappointed by it. The wines on offer from Burgundy were unimpressive and we ended buying the Roserock and the Domaine Drouhin Laurene Pinot Noirs, which are both from the US. Since the wines from Burgundy on the tasting are less impressive, I would not suggest paying the $40 for the tasting. Also, their limit of 6 bottle purchase for the waiver of tasting fee is the highest we encountered during our visit to the valley. I would recommend taking the Drouhin Oregon experience which is a better value at $25.
I realize that this might be an unusual recommendation, but the restrooms are within the cellars and lets one see the cellar steel tanks and oak barrels.
Overall, this is a solid winery. But tasting experience is weaker and less fun than most wineries of...
