Husband and I stayed one night at spot 97 - per a previous Google review that had a photo of the site. It was our first time camping and we had no issues - neighbors were quiet and friendly, there was a thunderstorm that night and we stayed dry and in one piece.
The site is wonderful, though!!! Nice and roomy and there is a worn in trail down the slope to a beachy area to sit and fish or just enjoy each others' company. We walked this beachy area a bit and then headed up another slope to walk through the campground.
The bathrooms are VERY nice. Personal showers and real toilets (not just a hole in the ground).
If we're ever back in this part of Iowa I want to camp here longer. This seems like the perfect peaceful place! And spot 97 is where it's at. Nice...

We stayed in a friend's camper here for 4 nights. Having never "camped" in any sport of rv before, it was novel and convenient. Although I was a little appalled at the sardine setup. Our rv was literally no more than 20 feet from the next one. I hear this is pretty common.
The sites with full hookups are away from the water with not much of a view so you have to trade convenience with view.

Read moreGreat trails, a very nice campground with a lot of shades sites (almost all of which have electric hook-ups), clean facilities, and nice views. Very nice beaches on the reservoir. And some of the best mountain bike trails the state has to offer that are also pretty good for hiking as well. There are several playgrounds, a disc golf course and plenty of green space.
