this is a very old tract of land. in the 1930s it had a skating pond and a log cabin built by the Boy Scouts of America, troop 1. The fieldstone foundation and chimney are all that remain of the cabin. The pond has become a swamp with a tiny stream, due to eutrophication and lack of dredging. Nonetheless, there are ample trails and hills to walk about and find peace and quiet. it's quite dog friendly, and commonly off leash (whether legal or not), where most everyone I meet is polite and well behaved. Many times I'm the only one there. It's wonderful.

Great trails to walk with your dog or without. Our dog favorite place to play with other dogs.

A hidden gem! We did an orientation event with the scouts and it was great. Well done, Newton.

A fun place to walk dogs and let them run. Although it's not officially an off-leash area in reality people do let their dogs off leash. The one drawback is sometimes the dog owners here can be very prim and proper, who'll get upset if your dog is not prim and proper as well. But that seems more of a function the well-to-do neighborhood surrounding the park than...

The park provides an escape from the city. It transports you from Newton and Boston to a place like Upton state park. Well kept trails, lots of hills and secluded places, and even an old stone foundation with a fireplace by the pond. Lots of dog walkers on weekends and a great...
