If you have pitbulls DO NOT come to this place. We payed to stay here for a week, as we were packing up to pull our camper out my sweet two year old pit Nila got out. A woman with a stroller was walking by and Nila who absolutely loves kids, keep in mind pitbulls are known for being "nanny dogs." The woman acted like everything was fine & ended up calling the park rangers. After speaking with the park ranger they asked what kind of dog we had & we proceeded to tell them it doesn't matter what the breed was if my dog was " ferocious." They then called FWC to write us a citation. FWC even agreed that the whole situation was stupid but the park was still pushing for a tresspassing warning. We are now band for a year even though our family has time share there & we paid $115 to stay there. So if you want your dog to be judge & mistreated not to mention the constant harassment about parking DO NOT come here! I've never in my life met people so judgemental. That being said go educate yourself on this...
Read moreSmall, well-maintained park with a nice view. Bathrooms are modern with hot showers. Great access to Eglin AFB, with hunting, fishing, hiking, and kayaking by permit on Eglin. I took a star off because noise from the road was loud all night. On the bayou side, it came from the bridge. It says there is swimming, but direct access from the campground is weedy. Access from the day use area is nicer, but there isn’t a roped off area. Also, the water is clear and shallow there, so it might be a nice place to wade, but I personally wouldn’t want to go farther where I couldn’t see. In the day use area, there is, also, a nice playground. There are, also, plenty of picnic tables with grills. There is a boat ramp in the day use area, too. There are kayak rentals, but the water was choppy and murky most of the time we were there. Basically, if you don’t live far from there or want to fish, it deserves 5 stars, but I wouldn’t drive a long way just to...
Read moreMy father contracted Vibrio Vulnificus bacteria in the water at Rocky Bayou on 7/5/19 and died from it two days later 7/7/19. The water at Rocky Bayou is brackish. It is the back of the bay where fresh water comes in and makes it the perfect breeding ground in warm weather for this bacteria also known as flesh eating bacteria. The park itself is wonderful and naturally occurring bacteria is not the fault of the park but since it is not part of the bacteria testing you do see posted there, there should be a sign near the swimming area warning that you should not swim with an open wound or a compromised immune system because the probability of contracting the bacteria is high for those individuals. DO NOT SWIM IN THIS WATER IN THE SUMMER WITH AN OPEN WOUND AND ABSOLUTELY NOT IF YOU ARE IMMUNE COMPROMISED. If you are healthy with no open wounds you are...
