Absolutely lovely hidden gem! I loved this park overall the reason I give it 4 stars though is because there should be signs to have your dog on a leash. I took my dog to this park on a leash, we were chilling at the beach area and two large dogs came running to the beach so quick and unexpectedly, the owners were about a minute out and I couldn’t see them for a while. My dog launched to them and because I wasn’t expecting it the leash got yanked from my hand, and she took off to them. Luckily she is good with other dogs and has good recall once told. However, 30 min earlier we had passed a dog (on a leash) and the owners said he was aggressive. Those dogs without a leash could've very easily run into him if they had come a-little earlier. When we were leaving the dogs were still unleash roaming the pasture, and were not very well trained or listening to their owners. Iv also been badly attacked by a large dog before that was supposedly usually friendly and had never bit let alone full on attacked someone before. ( not at this park). I have also been corned by another unleashed big dog at a different park, owner wasn’t able to get there till atleast 5 minutes. (dogs are a lot faster than we can keep up with obviously ). So I’m very anxious and panicky around big dogs who are free roaming and have not been back since from fear of loose dogs. It is a awesome park besides that and I would love to go back but would have no peace in mind. I left that day more anxious than I came and very grateful that I have a non aggressive dog. I think a simple sign would go a long way or maybe a fenced area for a dog park. I do understand wanting to let your dogs be free but you never truly know with dogs, and that’s what dog parks are for. Were everyone there accepts and consents to the risks. People scuff it off bc they are just dogs but please have a conversation with a ER doc, nurse, or vet. Bad things happen more quickly and often than you might expect. I am a dog lover. But it takes away experiences from people like me, types of dogs like the one we passed, that are aggressive but still want to enjoy the outside leashed, the owners of those types of dogs, families with small kids, and many others. After everything Iv been through they are not to be undermined. I hope this park takes into consideration at-least a sign. Because in that case I could ask someone to put their dog on leash, and not sound like I’m in the wrong. This happened awhile back but iv really been wanting to come back which why I am writing this! Please update if a sign is...

In the dry months, the river is the most perfect dog swimming hole you'll find in central IN. Not too cold, not too deep, not to fast running. Many people have dogs unleashed; beware if that's intimidating to you ... as I said, it's a dog friendly park in world...
