I went yesterday (October 29, 2021 at approx 4:30pm) with my 2 year old twin boys to go pumpkin picking.
Prior to arriving that day, I called ahead to confirm there were still pumpkins as I know it’s late in the season. I was informed the patch was still open and had small pumpkins available for picking. I thought that was perfect since I have little kiddos anyway.
Once there, I unpacked the boys, got them in their stroller and began walking back. There were only signs posted for apple picking so I called the office asking for directions and explained I was on site but couldn’t find the pumpkin patch portion. The female employee I spoke with was inexplicably rude. After telling me where the pumpkin patch was, I also asked if there was another way there as the sole road to access the patch was (literally) flooded and the farm took prior efforts to place wooden planks across the flooded portion for people to access on foot. I explained that I had small children, one of whom was handicap and the stroller served as his wheelchair with his mounds of medical equipment attached and leaving the stroller behind was not an option.
Her response: “You know we’ve been open for two months, right?”
My response: “I just got my son out of the ICU…”
Her (interruptive) response: “So, he’s been there that whole time?”
I hung up the call.
Disgusting. Man, I thought I’ve heard it all. Nope. That was easily the rudest interaction I’ve had with a human being in my entire life.
I took my boys there last year for apple picking. It was underwhelming but given my last minute opportunity to take my boys pumpkin picking, I took them here because I knew where it was, and I called ahead to confirm that they had pumpkin picking still available. I will never come back here. I was so looking forward to a fall day with my two sweet angels, one of whom is significantly disabled, constantly riddled with medical ailments, and I wanted a “normal” day without stress. Thank you, terrible and rude lady for keeping my naive expectations in check and serving up some unsolicited and unwarranted stress—at a friggin...
Read moreGreat place to get a sandwich or soup for lunch and we buy pumpkins and Christmas trees here every year. Good local produce offerings but nothing exotic.
Unfortunately the rest of their store just feels crowded and confused and finding expired / out of code merchandise is not uncommon. No real common sense of theme to it with dog treats next to candles and greeting cards. It's almost like their buyer buys a big order of a product that catches their eye then it sells slowly but rather than discount it to move it and free up capital and space for new product they keep it forever. This also leads to finding a product you like that never gets reordered once you buy the last one.
If the owner or manager reads this I sincerely hope you don't take offense and take these comments in the constructive manner they are meant. Products have shelf lives and discounts are your friends to avoid spoilage, inventory sitting around taking up space has an opportunity cost in addition to the investment you made to purchase it. If you really want to go the gift shop or country store route you might consider adding that to the sign as many of the products you sell don't fit the traditional offerings of...
Read moreWent there for an afternoon during the epidemic to pick peaches. I can’t think of how the experience could have been worse.
Our arrival at the farm store was greeted by lots of pre teen and early teen children running around without masks. This is a violation of state law and a danger to others. No one stopped them or asked them to leave. Then I learned why, the store worker was wearing a mask with their nose completely uncovered. I want to leave immediately, but as we were is good masks, we paid our $30 for a bag to put our peaches and left.
The peach trees were a 10 minute walk way, the the trees were mostly picked clean. We found peaches, but the were mostly green with some red and yellow and hard as rocks. Many of the branches were broken. For $30, we kinda expected more.
We will see how they ripen, but we are not...
