GREAT fun for all ages!!! Fabulous fun, VERY easy to catch a LARGE fish! All your gear is free (pole, net, bucket, hook-pliers AND bait!). You pay by the pound for what you catch & it's a BLAST! They have a 1lb-3lb pond and a 3lb-6lb pond (rainbow & browning trout). ** NO catch & release here folks, I saw negative reviews about this & please understand, with a stocked pond like this you cannot 'release' once caught or it damages the stock! They can disease the whole pond if you release after catching! So this is to protect YOU and what you catch (& eat!). They do have staff to help if you need it (removing hooks - I saw a lot of folks who are not adept at this, just ask for help - they are great staff here!). They source from local fisheries. They feed fish with an organic pellet. I was comfortable taking this fish home to eat after asking the owner quite a few questions about these things. Our 2 teens love to fish, so this was a must-do on our list. Our 'sport' fisher teen was happy after 30 min & one good catch....because it was 'too easy' but it was a very valuable experience to 'feel' what it was like to reel in a truly large fish! We caught 3 fish in less than an hour, big ones! It was 10.5 lbs total - so price per pound + 50cents to CLEAN AND FILET our catch was about $80 with tip. We went away with 6 huge filets! We had stopped at the local ingles & a styrofoam cooler with ice was a total of less than $6....they do package your filets in a ziplock (well rinsed!) and then into a larger garbage bag with a couple scoops of ice, so if you have a cooler already or are staying local, the fish will keep for a bit!

Covid Friendly Trip! This is an awesome hidden treasure! It's the perfect family friendly active outing. They provide everything: bucket, fishing poles, bait (worms & corn), net & rag. The staff is friendly and helpful and even gave our kids a lollipop on the way out. When we arrived they greeted us and gave us what we needed. Two out of three ponds are stocked with trout. The first one to the right has the big fish and the one to the left has smaller trout even though those are big too and the pond to the back right has no fish. You only pay for what you catch (you can't throw any fish back in the pond) and they charge to filet the fish if needed. There is also a gem mine there & golf for the kids. We did this trip with 3 young kids & a baby and caught 5 big fish. I'd suggest to bring a baby carrier or stroller for a baby to sit and folding chairs for kids or they can sit on the rock or ground.

Had a great day fishing at Grandfather Trout Farm. Free use of tackle, free bait & no license required. Heath will set you up with a basic rod and reel, and you can fish in any of the 3 ponds - some have more fish than others. You also get to use buckets, nets & tool to remove hooks. In about an hour, I landed 3 rainbow trout and had a fourth one that got away 🎣. 5 pounds was the largest with the other 3-4 pounds each, before cleaning. You pay by the pound, and if you want to clean & filet them yourself - you can. Or Heath will fit & filet for a small fee per fish. Friends of ours served us trout almandine that they caught here, so he HAD to come and try this ourselves. This is open year around - all seasons. 10-5 daily. No indoor restrooms - port a John - so you know.

We had a great time here this weekend. When we arrived they had the rods and bait and everything all set up, so my husband and son were able to get started right away. We set up a picnic blanket up on the side of the grassy hill, which was nice and shaded from the sun with my littler kids. You can watch the action from up there. My son really wanted to catch and cook a fish and this was perfect for that—we caught four fish amongst everyone we came with, and they cleaned and filleted it for us and put it on ice in a bag so we could bring it back to our campsite. The kids got to watch them prepare it, which was a learning experience for sure! The water looks clean, the fish looked really healthy and tasted delicious with all of the spices that we put on it. We’ll certainly be back next time we’re on a trip here! The catch was definitely the thrill of it all, and the staff was super nice...
