The soft crunch of alabaster shell and stone beneath your feet greets you along with the sounds of bird call. You’re now visiting one of the oldest and well preserved historic sites in the state of North Carolina. Rich with colonial history, the Newbold-White House sits just off the main road waiting for avid historian minds to stumble across it. This site is worth the trip and well worth arranging for a personal tour.

Colonial era house. The Periauger boat on display, was used in the movie Harriet which depicts Harriet Tubman leading the US army troops through the river. Even if you aren't into history, it's a nice place to stop and relax. There is a few picnic tables as well for a much needed break if you are traveling through

A road side sign drew me here and I am glad I stopped even if it was closed. A quaint house with a famous boat used in a movie

Showed up around 11am on Saturday, and there was no one there except for the lawn service guys. If you advertise as being open at a certain time, you need to have someone there!
