I had a chance to visit Penland for their annual benefit auction. This is a magical place. Even if you visit outside of an auction, I'm sure you'll find it a great visit if you love art. Their gallery spaces are superb, and the people here are very friendly. The campus is situated on a mountaintop slope with unique buildings scattered throughout - it's beautiful, idyllic.
Penland offers classes at various times of the year, which I'm hoping to take advantage of in 2016. Perhaps the best recommendation comment I can provide is that Penland inspired me to pick up my paintbrushes again after I set them aside for nearly a decade.
