The Kernersville location is where my family and I gathered for a family reunion, last Saturday. The picnic tables made of wood and meadow appeared to be stable but, they were NOT! 4 elderly members of my family were seated at one particular table having their photo taken when all of a sudden, each of them fell backwards, hitting the pavement. Everyone is okay and their were no injuries, BUT one member did complain for head soreness due to the impact of the fall. The paramedics arrived swiftly and found the ladies all alert and well, in spite of this traumatic experience. My ENTIRE family has realized that, the fall should’ve NEVER happened! After analyzing the tables and replaying what led up to that awful moment, we came to the realization that the picnic table was wobbly and not stable to the ground. One would think that a picnic table with meadow legs would not be unstable but, that is NOT the case. We also noticed about 6 additional picnic table alongside the shelter we were sitting under. Each of those tables appeared to be broken, dented or the table top had a dip in the middle. I am completely floored at the fact that a family reunion could have resulted in a devastating tragedy for my family. These picnic tables should be maintenanced regularly and carefully replaced, Shelter number 1 especially! This experience has left a bad...
Read moreThis park is very large with two separate play areas. The more shaded play ground has play equipment suitable for younger kids and a nice walking concrete walking path, and a small covered shelter by the play ground. There are multiple picnic tables with grills around, and the playground area is well shaded for much of the day. No bikes, no skateboards or anything with wheels is allowed. The bathroom is a long walk from the playground. There is also a volleyball court, and there is a storybook you can read along your walk. It is the only Forsyth County park with a story walk. Both of the waterfountains did not work when we visited November 9th, but I wonder if water was turned off in case of freezing for the winter months. Overall it was a really lovely park and my moms group had a fabulous time. The other play area had equipment more for older kids and is directly in the sunlight. It's great for a cooler day but super hot in summer months. The bathrooms are much closer and there is a huge shelter with many picnic tables. We love both areas depending on time of year or weather we pick the smaller one if we need more shade and the larger if it's...
Read moreWe were here recently for a concert that took place for veterans and included a day of events to honor the local veterans. This field of honor area is huge. As we were arriving, there was a dedication going on in the monument area. As much as we would like to have stayed for that...but we were making sure we were in our usual concert spot..up front and center. On past the monument is a large covered stage. The stage is massive and the perfect place for a band. There is room up front for fans and then there are seats as well..though they are not covered and plenty of room on the lawn. I knew the band and went over to talk to the drummer and noticed there was a road in to the stage area and one around the side. So those with mobility issues can drive around and be dropped off. But from the monuments down to the stage is very steep, so it would be a difficult walk with those with health issues. I am sure somewhere within the park area there are bathroom, nut I didn't see any here,just...
