The Field of Honor is one part of the relatively-undiscovered gem just outside of Kernersville that is the Triad Park. It's a large, beautiful, well-maintained monument with great walking trails, an excellent kids playground, and tons more variety: including great shelters, several hiking trails (of varying distances!), a disc golf course, an amphitheater, and more.
The Field of Honor has a lot to offer, and it's all impeccably clean. Maybe that's because it's also fairly new. There's not a ton of cover once you get out to the main monument itself, but the trees and shelters around it allow for good enough places to rest. My wife and I walked with a friend and his dog there for a couple hours, ranging all over the place, and it was an absolute joy. Clear, clean, obvious paths that are safely away from traffic. Read moreWhat a magnificent tribute to our heroes. The Monuments are beautiful, there are waterfalls in the center and then obelisks all around. We went on Veterans Day weekend and all the flags are at half staff. It was a moving and wonderful Memorial honoring our veterans. Highly recommended visiting. There are plaques and dedications to every war and each of the battles faught. Going on the hundredth anniversary of Armistice Day was extremely emotional.
