Small beach with lifeguard. You'll find the shore is similar to what you find under the waves. Patches of sand, pebbles, and river rocks. The larger round stones tend to pile up in the churning of the wind waves, so be aware when walking into the surf. This can make for some stubbed toes or slippery tumbles into the water. Overall a nice clean beach, zoned for public use. Water seems clean, besides the occasional dead fish. That always makes the kids scream. Read moreIt was painfully hot yesterday, but the beach made it bearable. There are 2 pavilions, a bathroom, and an outdoor shower. There is also a playground (not a good day for the slide today) and a creek. And, of course, the beach. Typical of all lake Erie beaches, thee is a mix of rocks and sand. The buoys mark a steep drop off. Pay attention to the lifeguards! Fun fact, Freeport beach to Long Point (Ontario) is the shortest path across the lake. Make sure you bring a warm jacket, gloves and a hat if you decide to go in the winter.
